Texans' head coach credits Clemson's staff for Watson's development
Deshaun Watson was given plenty of responsibility as Clemson’s starting quarterback, tasked with reading the defense, making audibles when necessary and helping the center with offensive line adjustments. He did most of his work with Clemson’s hurry-up offense at full throttle, and those lessons learned are serving him well in the NFL. Full Story » |

Yeah what have you heard about all the other " wonderful " qb picks. Not much.
It's going to be awesome watching DW4 on Sundays, but will be equally sad not to see him in orange!!!

That is a Chicago Sun-Times writer evaluating a hometown rookie NFL quarterback prospect . Wouldn't put too much weight behind what he says there.

When you answer your own questions and don't do anything about what you have leaned in those questions ask, leads to the very reason you don't progress. The Bears decided that spending a ton of money would fix their problems, but it won't and didn't. They don't get it, they needed a QB and went with a one time wonder over a polished QB that took his team to the National Championship in back to back years. The Bears suffer from the dumb choices they make from being desperate to do something, and that something was putting millions of $$$ dollars in QB Mitchell Trubisky that hadn't proved anything in the college ranks. Maybe the fix the Bears should be looking at, are at the top of their franchise....

But it's awesome to hear it from an NFL coach. Every team that picked 1-11 especially the ones who deliberately passed on DW because "he isn't a NFL franchise QB" will soon be picking their pride and their jaws off the floor. Cant wait to see DW light up every defense in the league! Go Tigers, Go Texans!!

I would bet you a million $ he will give the credit to DW, not the coaches. Sure, they didnt suck in coaching him, but if DW were not so darn smart and driven, none of it would matter.
Don't take anything away from DW. This is all him!

I get it, I would have loved for DW4 to go first in the draft. BUT, I think he landed in an amazing franchise that had the defense ready to go, the running game intact, and weapons at WR. They simply needed to add a QB to start winning serious games. DW4 landed exactly where you would want someone to land if they were to start off on the right (successful) foot. AND, the Texans traded up 13 (if memory serves me) spots to get that last piece of the recipe. Good on ya Texans and good for you DW4!

Wa Wa Wait a minute, I thought Clemson's offense

Wasn't that sophisticated, just fast, and the QB only had to read half the field and just be quick thru his check downs, not necessarily smart, and thus DW4 wouldn't be qualified or nearly demonstrated capable of learning such sophisticated offenses as found in the NFL? Guess some of the coaches in the NFL saw through the crap spewed from many of the talking heads about DW4 and the value of his time demonstrated running our offense.
Never mind

How much of the field did Watson read in his firt ever start

Backed up at his own 10 yard line against the bulldogs between the hedges. 90 yards latter he splits the safeties for a touchdown. I have never watched him play and wished he would have seen a wide open receiver on the other side of the field. He sees everything and he will do the same in the NFL.
