This is how we solve our QB situation for the next 4 years

Right now, our team is fortunate to basically be looking at having 5 QBs on the roster that have dreams of playing at the next level.
If things keep going like they are, KB returns next year to battle TL for starting role and then TL assumes starting role after next season. All others are battling for starting role, but settling for second or third string, but get significant playing time when games become out of reach, even though not often against first string defense.
During the week, though, backup QBs go against the best defense in the nation, alternating who runs opponent's playbooks each week, giving each 2-3 weeks to learn opponents offense and implement it against our defense. Coaches get plenty of scout team tape for NFL scouts and players avoid the four years of bodily harm and head injuries so many first string QBs have to suffer through. This gives them an advantage when NFL scouts look at the length of their potential NFL careers.
Only downside is the backups won't get a chance to lead the team in big televised games or in front of hostile away crowds or have the pressure that comes with entering at the beginning of the game.
Same could be said for the running back rotation we have going, as far as not taking the abuse for four years most elite starting running backs suffer. Through two degrees of separation (which doesn't carry much weight, I know), I heard one NFL team doctor say Clemson has a reputation for sending battered players to the NFL (might also be because we take chances on more players that have sustained major injuries in high school).

If KB keeps playing like he did Saturday, there is no QB battle. He starts til he goes to the NFL.

KB played great. Louisville's defense is pretty bad.

It isn't out of the realm of possibility that KB could possibly take a look at NFL after this season if he keeps getting better this season knowing TL is coming and HJ behind him getting better. I'm not saying I think he is NFL ready right now but you've got to think that if this team keeps winning and he keeps getting positive attention that the thought crosses his mind.

He's been impressive throwing the ball (very impressive, imo)... so it will be interesting to see how the season goes..
I can also see TL being willing to sit behind him for a year

Don't fool yourself a 3 game resume is not even comparable to DW4 and i laugh at the comparison. KB needs to stay and play next year.TL and the other 3 can battled it out the following season. For what it's worth Cooper is the 2nd best qb on campus.

I agree with you, but Kelly Bryant doesn't seem to put the ball in harms way as much as Watson.

Do you know of any other D1 schools that used this solution to there QB situation? I imagine there have been occasions where a school had several 4* and 5* QBs on their roster.

Didn't the real USC do something similar with Cassel/Leinart? Cassel never started in college but started in the NFL, probably the only time that has ever happened though...

Transfers are bound to happen if Kelly keeps playing like he is and Trevor Lawrence stays committed. At least one, possibly two.

these guys are just too talented to sit and watch
zerrick and HJ would start at many major programs
but KB shows no signs of letting up on his starting role, and T Law is T Law
and chase brice is apparently waaay better than anticipated
KB / T Law / Chase Brice is a solid 2018 pecking order
sad to say, but see no way zerrick and/or hunter don't transfer out (Tucker Israel not even part of this equation)

Cardale Jones was QB #3 for tOSU in '14. Injuries can and will occur...Clemson have been blessed.
Especially when guys red shirt, they have the opportunity to transfer with at least one year of eligibility, sometimes, two. Practice against the best, get a degree, be a Tiger for life. Cooper could well be in that spot come next year. Israel came to Clemson to be a Tiger...kid is pure class...yet he may play elsewhere for a year, simply to play, but will forever be a Tiger. There's opportunity for everyone to live their dream.

Could we just start a "B: team? lol

If we did, they would likely be a top 25 team also. ACC standing could be
Clemson A Clemson B FSU etc.
Maybe talk the ACC into putting the B team on the Costal side... and we could play against ourselves for the ACC Championship????

If Trubisky is any indication of what a small but generally successful resume in college can earn you in the draft, it would be in KB's best interest to go NFL after this season. If, mind you, he continues to have success like we currently have. That would leave HJ, ZC, TL and CB to fight it out. With TI and one of the aforementioned possibly transferring to a mid major or even an SEC school who seem to struggle to get decent QBs into their systems.
