SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —
The first Whataburger restaurant in South Carolina opened Monday in Boiling Springs.
And that meant some folks started lining up early. How early?
The restaurant at 3647 Boiling Springs Road opened at 11 a.m., and some folks lined up beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Here is a list of the other expected locations:

Didn’t realize the CEO was a Clemson alum.
Think he’s pretty recent and lot of comments from Whatsburger nerds saying he’s sent the place down the tubes.
We’ve had them here for a couple years and I haven’t understood the excitement.

imitation Rush's burger on earth. I mean, it's certainly a few notches below Rush's but aren't they all lol? This one is real close. Spicy ketchup is novel.
Overall, meh. But then again so are largely all fast food burger joints.
#1 Rush's
#2 5 guys, but F them and they prices. So they are actually #3.
#3 Whataburger, becuase most similar to Rush's. Move them to #2 because 5 guy prices.
#4 and on is everything else

Old whataburger was good. 2024 post-private equity cost cutting whataburger is like 2024 Zaxbys compared to 2010 Zaxbys. It’s gone off a cliff to average-ville.
In n out still has Chick-fil-A level standards.

after a full day of racing at Bristol, getting back to Johnson City, our hotel was next door to a Krystal.
We always headed over there around midnight or whenever we got back and chowed down on some Krystal burgers. Good times.
I never ate them any other time.
