Across all sports

1979 men’s soccer: loss to SIU edwardsville
1981 football: win vs Nebraska
1984 men’s soccer: win vs Indiana
1987 men’s soccer: win vs San Diego State
2015 men’s soccer: loss to Stanford
2015 football: loss to Alabama
2016 football: win vs Alabama
2018 football: win vs Alabama
2019 football: loss to LSU
2021 mens soccer: win vs Washington

(2003 men’s golf national title was before the match play format, so not a singular “match” for it)

We never played for one in baseball?

Nope. We have come within 1 win of the championship game twice

And we know what happened in both instances. Don’t need to rehash

Noel Loban...he was the first national title of any sort for Clemson.

That '79 loss to SIU-Edwardsville stunk. Clemson had fought back to tie the match late...SIU had a goal kick...the ball went down the pitch on the fly...3 headers and into the goal...weirdest goal sequence I ever saw. Almost a 100 yards and the ball never hit the ground. I hated Tampa's stadium after that...until DW4-Renfrow set the karma straight again! :)
