In college football the top teams have elite, 1st round talent at:
QB
DE
WR
6 years ago we had that level of talent at those positions. Ask yourself this:
Which of our current QBs, DEs, or WRs are playing at that level?
I’m a big Dabo fan, but for us to move up to playoff level competitiveness we need to upgrade these positions this off season. High school, portal, it doesn’t matter. We can get the type players Dabo wants from the portal. They are out there.

We are told that those players are looking for a payday, and will go to the highest bidder. Dabo isn’t going to get into a bidding war for them, as he only uses NIL to keep players here who have proven themselves, and won’t use it to recruit.
As for the portal, we are told that all of the good portal players are obtained via tampering, something else Dabo won’t engage in.
The conclusion is that college football is now corrupt, and Dabo is the lone ethical coach in an industry filled with cheaters. He is maintaining his ethics and morals even though it means he can’t get the elite talent he once did.
Essentially, Dabo is a victim and a martyr, doing the best he can but mostly fighting a losing battle against forces greater than himself. Rather than criticize him, we should be praising him for doing the right thing.

Many said back in 2008 when TDP made the decision to hire Dabo , we should have gone after a big name coach
Follow that up with DRAD extending the experiment following the 2018-19 season , and now Neff obviously giving Dabo the dreaded “vote of confidence “ by going silent on the future of Clemsons H.C. position.
I’m not trying to make any one person the escape goat, but it’s clear there were mistakes made during many administrations

If we want to be some high-minded, enlightened team who has more integrity than everyone else, then let's just hire a chaplain at Clemson for $50,000 a year. We don't need to spend $11,000,000 a year on a coach to have a strong culture and integrity, and we shouldn't pay a coach top 3 money unless we're going to compete for championships.

Agree. Why should we be corrupt just because everyone else is doing it. If we can recruit and use the portal without be corrupt then I say do it. We will leave the corruption yo the others and let them lift their useless trophies. All who are corrupt will pay a big price at some time. AKA Florida State

Listen, as I’ve told you before, I have generally liked your posts in the past. You used to make good, well thought out posts, but other posters on the Board have criticized you to the point that you’ve retaliated by becoming a major troll. I have not criticized you until now, but I’m getting as tired of it as everyone else has.
As far as mocking “fans like” me, I have said several times that we are not a well coached team. I have been willing to be patient, but the Louisville game was eye opening. Someday, our coordinators may become great coaches, but right now their lack of experience shows. Plus, our special teams play has cost us several games over the past four years. Not having a coach dedicated to that phase of the game borders on a dereliction of duty given our recent history. Special teams play killed us last year.
What I don’t like is your pitting football fans vs. basketball fans. I support Clemson athletics all around, and I wish you would, too.

I've never gotten the sense that Judge is a troll. Just because someone has a position you disagree with, it doesn't mean they are trolling anyone. In basketball, Judge laments the fact that we haven't been willing to open to pocket-book in order to give Brownell all he needs to achieve success. In football, fans have given Dabo a blank check in order to win games, and yet Dabo, in his arrogance, refuses to use them, all the while taking the money and awarding high paying jobs to his friends and family.
Those positions are not inconsistent, even if I don't really agree with his extreme fandom of Brownell (I don't think Brownell is a coach capable of consistently winning championships unless all the stars align, just because he relies on low percentage threes).
And I have no idea who you even are, so your mentioning what you like, and that you're "tired" of Judge sharing his opinions, without adding an ounce of substance in your own post, means absolutely nothing to me.

I agree about our coordinators and lack of special teams expertise.
I’m not trying to divide anyone. It is my hope that everyone here supports all Clemson sports, not just football and not just Dabo.

I certainly agree with that. I was not happy with all the sniping about Coach Brownell either. I the has done the best he can given the lack of emphasis on the program. People can criticize without all the negativity.

I agree with you Judge 100%. Don’t understand the TD’s on this. It’s the way Dabo wants to manage Clemson football and I stand with him. Win but win the right way. Nobody wants to lose a game ever but defeat will come. He has tried to get players to come via transfer portal but if they don’t want to come, he can’t force them. And, I have heard him say that when a player announced his transfer, it’s already a done deal as far as the destination. Tampering is alive and well.

Not every elite team has elite QBs and receivers. Smart has won a ton without them. Saban did the same. Indiana doesn't have first round talent there. Great QBs matter, but I'd argue only three teams really have both first round talent at both groups: Ohio State, Oregon, and Texas.

Yeah, recruiting/bidding/hiring/renting is the same as it was 6 years ago. You think without Dabo the NIL money will increase for Clemson. The falloff from corporate donors as well as IPTAY at his departure will way overshadow any savings in salary for a new coach.

I will agree we don’t have the Dudes we had a few years ago. Our defense could carry us on a bad day but we saw what happened in the Louisville game. We were elite but now we are above average. If we don’t recruit better or use the portal we are going to just be average.
