This game is going to be a fight. We have to fight to keep

that crowd and energy there from overwhelming us and causing us execution problems. We will have to fight their motivated players. Trust me this will be very nip and tuck at the start if we do not come out and assert ourselves. Clemson should win the game but I would not be surprised, because of how much Syracuse wants it, that the score will not amuse a whole bunch of you. I don't care about the score or the rankings on that point though because I just want Clemson to walk out with a win. I love these Tigers but this game that everybody thinks is in the bag looks dangerous to me. Our Tigers need to come out with just as much energy and determination and turn the dangerous on Syracuse. No one would be happier than me if I am wrong.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is if the Tigers are not ready and play bad. The #3 team should blowout a very Avg Cuse team.

which will carry them for maybe 1 quarter. If we can weather them early (and we will) they will expend themselves eventually and we will take over.

Agree. But that mean we execute well and have no turnovers.

Things like that will keep the fans and their team in the game.

No turnovers at NC State was one of the keys to that game

Helpfully the trend will continue as 'cuse is as dangerous as any other potential trap game.

How are you going to feel when we play the terps?
As number 3 on the nation, we should just take them down by the half time ..

national perception. The only way it actually effects us is that it makes Syracuse more focused against us. Nobody is #1 2 or 3 until the end of the season. Rankings until then are just games.
And to answer your question, I will feel less confident against the terps. I still expect us to beat them, but I realize that it might not happen.

not to cover the spread. Last I heard it was 13.5. This game will be a close one IMO unless the coaches can get us as prepared as we were for WF and UGA. A SC State/NCSU performance will make this a nail-biter.

I was a little worried before the NC State game.

I think NC State has some nice pieces and some talented players at a few positions. However, they were also very weak at a few positions, which was their ultimate downfall against us.
Syracuse on the other hand, hasn't recruited well in years. They were fortunate last year to have a RS Senior QB with a very good head coach. They lost both of those pieces, as well as their top 2 WRs from last season, who totaled 136 catches, 1952 yards, and 15 TDs.
Syracuse's Rivals Recruiting rankings from 2008 to 2013 are as follows:
2008- 48 (Nassib's Class(RS Senior QB last year) so no longer with the team)
2009- 117 2010- 78 2011- 75 2012- 65 2013- 73 (Average of 81.6) *The AAC, ACC, Big 10, Big 12, PAC 12, SEC, and ND combined total 73 teams
Also to note is that since 2009, Syracuse has signed just 1 4-star player, and 0 5-star players.
I know recruiting rankings aren't all that it takes to win college football games, but the talent just isn't there for Syracuse to compete with Clemson or FSU this season. If they still had Ryan Nassib and last year's passing game, there might be some cause for concern, but this year's Syracuse team will not be able to score very easily on Clemson. All 5 of Syracuse's offensive line starters and 3/4 of Syracuse's defensive line starters were 2-star prospects on Rivals. In addition, Syracuse's starting offensive line has 3 sophomores, so it's not like these guys are a veteran group. I don't see how they will even be able to compete on the lines.
Clemson can play their C game in this one and win by 14. If we play our A game this one will be over by the middle of the 2nd quarter. My guess is we see a 38-10 type of game.

Great post except for one line: "Clemson can play their C game in this one and win by 14"
There's a reason there's an actual verb for what you guys are famous for doing each year. If you play a "C" game you will lose Saturday. Geno Smith, Teddy Bridgwater, ______
If you play an A or B game you win probably pretty easily.

It may just be semantics, but I think if we play a "C" game, which is what we played against NC State, we win by 14. If we play a D or F game, and have multiple turnovers, that is where it will get interesting.
This isn't last year's Syracuse team led by Ryan Nassib that was able to beat Louisville and West Virginia (a 7-6 team). This is a Syracuse team led by a player who has two career starts under his belt...against Wagner and Tulane. Last year's Syracuse team probably would have beat Penn State and kept the Northwestern game close. This year's team hasn't really shown much.

Small correction. The 2011 West Virginia team (that won the Orange Bowl) is the one that lost 49-23 in the Carrier Dome.

really? Well, one of them is the starting QB for the JEts, and the other is the #1 pick in next years draft. Boyd is in the same discussion. Those 2 teams were supposed to "crush cuse" . the crushing got reversed.
its actually quite relevant to bring them up when posters on here think Saturday will be a tiger cake walk. Oh and fyi, louisville and WVU were both favored by more than clemson is saturday.

You had an NFL QB and NFL Head coach last year as well.

This year you have a QB with 2 career starts and a head coach with 2 career wins. I don't see how what you did in the Nassib and Marone era are all that relevant to this year's team. The talent was much better last year than it is this year for Syracuse.

I really think the talk is something that effects only Cuse.

I don't think our guys pay any attention to that. I think we've matured enough to know that we play ourselves everyweek not the other team.
Oh yeah, the gun is loaded and we'll pull the trigger before they get the knife out of their pocket.
