As a reminder, you're defending a man who purchased and operated the Miss Universe Organization, of which Miss Teen USA and Miss USA were a part, and from which multiple witnesses experienced Donald Trump walking into the changing room, where girls as young as 15 were undressed. Think they're lying? Trump bragged about doing this on Stern's show in 2005.
But yeah...your version is probably more accurate.

which means saying that Trump was exonerated is quite the stretch, unless you're taking the position that everybody else was exonerated too and this massively huge Epstein conspiracy only really involved Clinton and the Prince.

of rational thought. You only believe what you are told to believe. 2 of the mentions were not Trump at all they were going to his casino basically just name dropping and the other two were questions to the witness about Trump and the answer was no.
Meanwhile the headlines focus on Trump when Clinton was mentioned 73 times and there are pictures with Clinton and at least one of the rape victims giving him a massage.
If you go back over 20 years you can find pictures of Trump and Epstein and maybe even some comments that were made, but is no connection to him recently otherwise it would be everywhere.
Trump might be a scumbag, but that doesn't make him a pedo like Clinton.

I woudn't bet money one way on the other about Trump's personal

bedroom habits... Lord only knows...
BUT
I'm not sure the context of that Trump quote. I imagine he was at some sort of event honoring him in front of a crowd, maybe. Maybe some sort of introduction...
The general comments like "terrific guy" "fun to be with" sound like stuff Trump would say about virtually anybody in that type of situation. It's the same type of stuff that my CEO would say about me at some sort of awards banquet, given that we've never met. Like he asked somebody "tell me three quick things about this dude and I'll riff off an introduction".
Or maybe they're eskimo brothers.
But the way that the first part of the article counters Trump's quote affirms my thoughts.
To me, that's the most plausible explanation of that quote.

I guess it's possible that Trump was projecting his own self-perceived traits onto Epstein in that quote.
If the only things I knew about those two were from that quote and that GIF, that's the conclusion I would draw.
My alternative theory is that none of these dudes are even real people. It's all some sort of altered reality.

if you hang out with someone 30 years ago and then they end up in prison 20 plus years later you are not guilty by association.
If you are Bill Gates and you start hanging with Epstein after he was arrested for molestation, then you are guilty by association.

A "piece of ###".
In another clip uncovered by CNN, this one from 2006, Stern asks Trump, “did your daughter get breast implants?” The real estate mogul replied that “no, she didn’t. I mean, I would know if she did. The answer is no. Why, did she look a little more stacked?”
“She looks more voluptuous than ever,” Stern said.
“No, she didn’t get them,” Trump said. “She’s actually always been very voluptuous.”

a Trump issue?? There's a lot of people on that list of all political persuasions that associated with this POS well after he was a registered sex offender. They should all be shamed - particularly those still associating with him after it was known he was a sex offender.
The big lesson in this Epstein affair is how rich people, Epstein in this case, can get away with serious crimes due to their connections and money. Epstein essentially got a minor hand slap for his sexual assaults until a Miami reporter exposed his "legal deal making" - almost 10 years after the fact. It highlights that there are 2 different systems of Justice - one for the rich and powerful and one for us regular folk.
If Epstein had been a regular Joe - he would have been put away for good back in 2009 but instead got that sweetheart deal from Federal prosecutors. You know - just like Hunter Biden almost got had it not been for a Judge ripping through the DOJs preferential treatment BS...
Unfortunately this is nothing new - rich and powerful people have gotten away with crimes through the ages. We would hope the USA has a better system than most for dispensing equal justice under the law. But as we continue to entrench a US ruling caste of career politicos and their revolving door appointees propped up by wealthy people, our justice system really appears to be falling ever further away from a one tiered system of equal justice under the law to a system of two tiers.
PS... What's not news is that Trump likes "younger" women... After all the dude dumped an older wife for "newer" models on three different occasions. Unfortunately this is not unusual for a lot of very wealthy men.

direction...
IMO, the focus should be on getting Ghislaine Maxwell to start naming names of who did the dirty deeds with these girls. Stop nibbling at lists of names trying to discern who was an acquaintance of Epstein vs participant of Epstein's vile behavior. Maxwell was essentially Epstein's madame (among other things) and knows most, if not all, of who did the nasty. But she has yet to do any public naming - I wonder why??
Actually I know why - she like's staying on the top side of the ground...

It's also a far more interesting/relevant discussion than another post about how Maxwell should start "naming names," as if this is a novel argument. Who isn't calling for this? Meanwhile, Trump is a candidate for the presidency whose connections with Epstein, not to mention his equally vile moral compass, would have him soundly bounced by his base were he anyone else.

Using our little Lounge politics microcosm, I'm pretty certain most, if not all left-leaning posters have said that if Bill Clinton, or Bill Gates, or any other "lefty" is found to be complicit in or guilty of sex crimes against minors, they should fry. I definitely don't remember any Loungers cosplaying Bill Clinton as a global savior of underaged sex-trafficked girls.

I think it's been pretty well established for most of us with intellectual honesty that Trump has NEVER been a paragon of moral living. But unfortunately, that hardly differentiates him from most of the other politicians we have running our country.
What I find amazing is how so many on here think Trump's egotistical narcissism and low moral fiber is somehow different from most of the other politicos. Biden and his family are no paragons of moral living either. Neither is Bill Clinton and many others on both the left and right. But for some reason it's only Trump and his many character flaws that seem to matter to most of the MSM and a lot of people on this board...

have some grip on "moral superiority". Truthfully (particularly in this day and age), if you base your vote on the moral superiority claims of one candidate over another then you better be prepared to be disappointed or are willfully blind.
I discovered a long time ago that the established political class we have running this country will adjust their moral values to match their ambitions or a high enough campaign donation. None of them are worthy of moral superiority praise and that is why I find it so laughable that people think Trump is so much worse than current/past politicians.
As I have stated many times, I don't base my votes on anything other than the professed policy positions of the candidates. I say "professed" because many (particularly from Republican Inc.) will say one thing on the campaign trail and do nothing towards those policy positions once elected to office.
Do I prefer a candidate that has the appearance of an upstanding moral character? Absolutely and by all appearances Nikki Haley is cleaner than a lot of politicos. But life experience has also taught me that you never know what people will do behind close doors and when no one is watching. Buying into or looking towards a politician for moral clarity or superiority is a fools errand.
Not that it matters, but the Democrats are well invested in a political strategy of being the morally superior Party. Just look at how they demonize MAGA Republicans as "deplorables" and "un-Democratic" - two distinctly un-moral characterizations of a whole swath of Americans. So yes - the Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans, and at times worse, when it comes to the moral superiority reindeer games...
