Top 10 excuses for Brad Brownell:
Jan 9, 2014, 9:06 PM
|
|
1. It's a young team - not really, teams of juniors and sophs are common.
2. Purnell left him a mess - his only trip to NCAA was with Purnell's players.
3. He's a great X and O guy- wow as much as he is out coached?
4. Had lots of injuries - other teams don't have those, right?
5. Facilities - OK Bowden...
6. Give him time - 10 years? How long.
7. He has no shooters. - and that is whose fault?
8. ACC is tough - Auburn???
9. Go away coot! - I'm no coot, hate 'em
10. You know nothing about basketball - love this one.., does Brownell?

These same morons were calling for Purnell's firing

after the Tigers lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament every year.
Of all the stupidity you enumerated, knowing next to nothing about college basketball is a suit tailored to your exact size. | Isn't it time you started calling for Jack Leggett's dismissal??? That HOF inclusion was obviously a mistake

of the most successful periods of Clemson hoops. Sure, that's not saying a lot, but I was more than satisfied with him. Plus, his teams were fun to watch.

I think our basketball woes have a lot more to do with the fact that we have almost no basketball tradition. Kids with a lot of talent just won't consider coming here, and I can't say I really blame them. Clemson is, and always will be, a football first school. I live in Colorado now, but when I lived in Clemson and went to the games, the only time fans sold the place out was when Duke and UNC came to town. Many times the place is about 1/4 full.
As fans, we should demand more from our basketball team and coach Brownell, but we also need to really show up in numbers and support the program if we are ever going to get any real, sustained success here.

Thinking Brownell stepped into a good situation is a joke.

If you didn't see struggle coming for anybody that took this job, then you just weren't paying attention.
We pretty much lost 2 recruiting classes between Purnell's "Fab Five" and His resignation a year later. We then lost 4 seniors the first year with 0 freshmen to replace them. Then the next year we lose 3 more players and were forced into a roster of all freshmen and sophomores in 12-13 (last season).
