Goodwin probably wouldn't be that bad of a DC coach if he had some real coaching experience bc the guy is pretty smart!!!

That was my hope. He's probably the smartest coach on staff, book wise. He just couldn't get the analytics out of his head and consider that sometimes risky plays are the right call. I now wonder if he's beyond help there (he might be even more risk averse after he gets fired/forced to leave).

1 + 1 = 2 to most of us (except coots because they dont know) but to Goodwin it turns into a calculus problem. IMO, since he's been the DC making the decisions, he struggles believing what he sees sometimes and over thinks it. For example, UofSC is going to change so we'll take Sammy out and be ready for them. Why would you think they would change what's working until it's stopped consistently?
