I hate them, they show every year about this time for a few weeks.

I truly hate these parasites.

I recently got in a new pistol.
This is a strong gun, hits hard.
It is spring action, one shot, takes a young man to #### it.

With these light load pellets fires out at around 700fps and will sink into a 4X4, easily go completely through a can of beer (refilled with water).

Problem of course is I just can't make myself shoot the #### birds. I do scare the heck out of them.

They have been gobbling up my bird seed for about 10 days now. I scare them off with my "Red Ryder"
air rifle maybe 25 times each day. Usually a group of 30 or so. The good news is that they will move on
pretty soon.

Before they do, they will parasite many song bird nests (Wren, Chickadee, Titmouse. etc). Those nests will then raise none of their own young.

Cowbirds are lazy worthless critters, I hate them.

Had a pair of Wrens that nested in a hanging basket too close to our bird bath where the Cowbirds like to visit. Come fledge time - their little baby was as big as they were.

Apparently leaving their eggs behind in other species nests for their bigger offspring to do their work is due to them riding along with herds of cattle and being naturally migratory, having to sprinkle seeds along the route back and forth.

I suspect we'll start seeing them next week then here in the Midlands. Thanks for the heads up.

Go birds!

And beer!

Cowbird babies are bigger and get all the food, the mama bird's babies die.
