Whatever it is that the coaching staff has done with Antonio Williams, it is working.

I think Williams is "that guy"! He's one that wants to dominate. It's in his DNA. He's one you probably have to say "whoa" instead of "go"!
I think he is going to have a Solid Orange Clemson football career!

He's A Intense Competitor!

I'd like to take this moment to say: "Antonio Williams better fits the mold of a WRU receiver. He has the mindset if the ball is in the air; that it's his ball. In fact, his body language and approach to it is almost hateful(in a good way) because he can't believe a defender had the audacity to try and get his football"! Look at Hunter Renfrow - you might think he wasn't that guy. He was; he just operated slightly differently, but make no mistake he wanted to dominate. Mike Williams - wanted to dominate. Nuk Hopkins wanted to show you he was better and seemed to me to have a "what do you think you are supposed to do to stop me attitude"! Sammy Watkins as well. Tee Higgins as well.
Martavis Bryant got that in the last half of his last season at Clemson and dominated!
I believe Adam Randall is going to be the same way.
This has been my criticism of some of the WRs we brought in recently. They don't seem to have that same kind of; "get out of my way that's my ball" mentality.
Frank Ladson certainly didn't have enough for my liking. I watched some of the MTSU vs. Miami and he's still waiting for the ball instead of attacking it. If it's not perfect for him; he wasn't willing to fight to get in a position for it. Sometimes because of pressure, a QB may not be able to hit you in the perfect position in stride. And a WR has to: "MAKE A PLAY"!
Okay, rant over! Antonio Williams is a play-maker who "makes the play work"! Some WRs are only effective if it works the way the play was drawn up! We need more playmakers who can work in dirty water!

Williams and Spector were on the field together numerous times.

Williams had many more snaps than Spector vs La Tech.

Haven’t seen the break down for Wake, but I suspect it was true again.
There is not going to be any way that Spector will keep Antonio Williams off the field the remainder of the season.

DueWest 100% agree! I love Spectors hands; which is why you put him in on 3rd down. Both of these dudes will catch it - 1st and foremost. If they don't get any YAC oh well, get us a 1st down and now you get 4 more downs to get that YAC potentially. Move the chains 1st though.
I still wish I felt great about our outside WR's. But, if the TE group continues to ascend and these slot WRs keep balling; we'll be okay!
Collins and Randall both can do it at a high level I think! We just need to see it!

Have we given SPECTOR any or enough praise for that unreal catch

for needed TD when defender missed it and Spector kept focus, brought it in after ball turned over couple times, grasped it securely and jolted into the end-zone.

Agreed! That was a spectacular catch. You have to put the playmakers on the field and let the others who are still figuring out college ball on the bench to figure it out. Maybe move Williams to the outside, so both are on the field. These two get open and don't stay covered much like Renfrow, Rogers, and Scott in the slot.

Wake Forest Game -- Antonio Williams
Sep 28, 2022, 10:16 PM
|

My 22-yr old son and I had good seats on 40 yard line on Tiger side of the ball surrounded equally by Wake and Tiger fans. Wake fans pulled hard for their team and kept it classy with Clemson fans -- hats off to them.
One Wake fan in front of us wearing a Wake shirt and a red Cornell cap was quiet but really complimentary of No. 0 calling him the best receiver on our team. Williams certainly has impressed early!
