For Some Reason This Season Has A Different Feel To It

Now, I'm not saying that Clemson will win it all in football this season, but for some reason it feels much different than the previous 2 to 3 seasons. It feels like we have all of the ingredients to make a run to the championship again. At the very least, I think we make it to the playoff this season. I am excited about watching the Spring Game and finding out where the Tigers are development wise.

SPOT THE BALL! GO TIGERS!

Our country won't go on forever, if we stay soft as we are now. There won't be any America because some foreign soldiery will invade us and take our women and breed a hardier race.

It all depends on these factors (in order of importance).

1. Matt Luke and the OL's improvement.
2. Riley and his ability to improve Cade's decision-making.
3. WR improvement (health, freshman impact, route-running, etc)

The offense has been holding this team back for years.

Cade proved he could get it done when not under pressure. His success rate and “wow factor” aka big-time-throws were higher than average in a clean pocket. If the receivers created more separation and didn’t have higher than average drop rates, he could have had elite “clean pocket” stats. He was 73% in a clean pocket. However, he was terrible under pressure. The metrics show he was in the bottom twenty five of completion rate under duress. He was under duress more than not. I’d keep your number one and make number three second. Our receiver play made Cade look worse than he is. Only about 5 interceptions were graded as Cades fault.

& fwiw 19/9 or 10, 2500 yds, 65%comp aren't bad numbers for a sophomore w/ 2 games under his belt—

2 and 3 could be flopped around IMO. As better routes/open would really help Cade. But absolute need is the OL..... has been for about 5 or so years

1. OL improvement
2. WR's being able to run routes to get separation and then catch balls thrown to them
3. Klubnik's mental game

Absolutely! I think they will win the ACC this year. I can hardly wait to see if Clemson beats UGA in the opener. Then Clemson should dismantle FSU and everyone else in their way.

I like getting uga early while they are trying to figure out their offense without bowers. But it is early for our defense. I think our defense will be elite by seasons end barring major injuries. I can’t believe Luke can vastly improve OL by first game but more of a work in progress as the season goes. I am hoping we can get another shot at UGA in the CFP at seasons end.

Glad it's early as well..

Would prefer them at 2 or 3 on the schedule. They have a very good WR pos group and SC native Delp a jr replaces Bowers at TE (#1 TE in his class, 4.56 latest 40 time).

I'm optimistic about the season.

I think the offense will be better in every area - OL, WR, QB and RB (due to improved OL). I think Riley and Luke will do great jobs improving the offense.

The unknown factor, as always, is injuries. If the Tigers stay reasonably healthy I expect them to be in Charlotte in December.

Brett,

What is your story? Are you a FSU fan or are you ALL IN on the Tigers? I see and agree with many of your comments and post on here, but I cannot figure out what your stance is. Please enlighten me so that I can catch up.

Reasonable question

I'm an FSU fan from birth. My dad graduated from FSU. He was as WWII vet who entered FSCW on the GI bill and graduated from there. My first real recollection of FSU was when Bill Peterson was coaching and Fred Biletnikoff was the WR.

For some reason I liked Clemson way back then. Not really a big fan, but liked them.

Really liked them when they beat OU in the Orange Bowl and when Woody Hayes coached his last game in the Gator Bowl.

But, I didn't really become a fan until Tommy Bowden was named HC. That was when I first found T-net. (I followed the coaching carousel back then and had some nice conversations on this board during the coaching search.) Obviously, I am a big Dabo fan. He is the epitome of what college football should be.

Clemson is my #2 team and is the only team I would classify as "I'm a fan of" other than FSU.

Nice back story, very long history there. I wasn’t even a thought in my parents’ minds back then. I’m only 40 and I’ve been a Clemson fan all my life. Can’t say I’ve ever like FSU, was present in Death Valley during the 2013 beatdown. Haven’t like FSU since the puntrooskie play. However, I did have a ton of respect for Bobby Bowden. Nice to know your history with Clemson fandom though. I’ve read many of your post and they’re very interesting and have a lot of effort and objective points to them. Anyway, GO TIGERS!

I feel it too. Fixing one problem will fix the others with our team. The OL will be better and that will make CK and the WR's all look much improved. Definitely a playoff team we have and UGA better watch out.
