I do wonder what campus life would have been like before the Shannon Gill incident. I came along a couple years after that and they had locked down quite a bit of the opportunities for debauchery that previously flourished.

I guess the flip side of the coin is that I can remember a few times when a city cop could have hauled me in, and instead just told me to get my ### home and sleep it off. Guessing that doesn't occur anymore either.

USC game weekend. Started out with getting one keg, and by the time it was over, we had bought 8 more. We're talking about people passed out in the yard, burning couches in the backyard...it was epic.
Anyway, about midnight, we got a knock at the door, and I opened it to see two Clemson cops. I was waiting to get multiple tickets or arrested, when the guy says "Hey, hate to bother you, but you guys have cars parked on both sides of the road....would you mind getting everyone to just park on one side?" Then they left.
Hands down the coolest interaction I've ever had with the law.

even as underage kids never got any tickets. The closest we came was in the dorms freshman year, but the cops eventually just poured everything out and the guy whose room it was (room next to mine) had to go before the ethics council which is it's own load of bs. He repented of his sins and nothing happened.

another for pot, and another for downloading a movie. None of them had anything more than a slap on the wrist. The movie thing was an even bigger joke even though they tried to scare him by saying he could be sued for thousands. This was while C-Hub was still in operation which was an on network file sharing system with several terabytes of movies and music that anyone could hop on and grab.

yeah, he had the Peter Pan syndrome bad, but I also threw a mega bash at my palatial lakefront duplex for his class, and did a speech on how to do a kegstand, garnering me an A. Other speeches that night were "how to make a low country boil", and "how to make muscadine wine in a bathub" (given by a hawt girl from Darlington).

I had him for the intro com class and he was a fun professor to have. He mostly just told stories the whole time. He's the faculty adviser for some frat and just goes to their parties and hits on girls, but of course they love it and are fighting to talk to him because they think he's the greatest professor of all time.
