downturn in Clemson football in recent years. Prior to that, Dabo Swinney was never so locked into a starting quarterback. Watson took over for Stoudt, Lawrence took over for Bryant, in other words, talent won out.
Then DJ got here, along with the Transfer Portal and NIL. Suddenly, we were locked into a starter, even one who struggled TERRIBLY. I believe it was because, there was the fear of transfer if he was removed from the starting lineup. Some have even suggested that DJ had some sort of insider hold on Dabo, which somehow guaranteed him the job once he got it. Wild conspiracy theories, I hope.
And yet, we seem to be going through at least somewhat a similar thing with Cade Klubnick. Time will tell, but at least, I think, right now we DO have other options that can play that position, even if Klubnick were to transfer following a benching.

Players can choose to leave Clemson, but Dabo can also choose to use the portal to bring in new players.
At least, that’s how it should be, and how it is at every other school.

If you fill your roster and nobody leaves, there is no room for transfers. And Dabo is right in not forcing players to leave the team to make room for portal guys.

You are wasting your breath speaking out against Dabo's use of the portal. He said 'We aren't getting into bidding wars. Our NIL program is to help the players get NIL money and how they should manage it.'
I'm not going down the list of benefits for why Dabo is Dabo. If you don't know by now you'll never know. If you don't appreciate how he uses the portal get over it. You're a Clemson fan, a brother and maybe someday we will be friends.
Criticizing Dabo is no way to win friends and it influences only the weak minded who are ignorant of Dabo's virtue.

I don’t disagree except it is Dabo’s job to find a QB who can get us to the playoffs (at least someone who manage the offense). Showing up last year at Dook with an offense which was not functional is unacceptable. Where the QB comes from is his decision.
