What are the primary reasons for the Double Black descent? I’m thinking: 1. NIL Funds 2. Better overall coaching 3. SEC schools have better facilities/dorms 4. Overall support in the total vertical (from core team all the way to Conference Leadership) 5. More upside in terms of 5 -10 plan
What are your thoughts?

The SEC, outside of Vanderbilt, only cares about athletics for the most part. Just look at the student sections during games. not many Rhodes Scholars out there. But credit to the SEC for acknowledging that athletics are really all they have, and taking advantage of it. which has led to all the money and bias they get from ESPN.
Meanwhile, the ACC, as far as athletics go, put all their eggs into one basket (basketball), and neglected football. Now the SEC has caught up, or even passed them in basketball, and its biting the ACC in the rear.

I need to research this further, but if you are talking about Rhodes Scholars, South Carolina has had nine, how many has Clemson had

Not sure Rhodes Scholars is the hill he wants to die on. Clemson has had a total of 1 Rhodes Scholar in it's history (Yes, USC has had 9, and by comparison UGA has had 26, GT has had 6). The biggest outlier in the ACC & SEC combined is, not surprisingly, newcomer Stanford, who has had 104. That's almost a third of the ACCs total as a conference, which is 334. The SEC has had a total of 252.
The numbers for ACC & SEC schools are: BC - 2 Cal - 25 Clem - 1 Duke - 49 FSU - 5 GT - 6 Lvl - 4 Miami - 3 UNC - 46 NC St - 0 Pitt - 8 Stan - 104 SMU - 5 Syr - 2 UVa - 55 VT - 2 Wake - 17 TOTAL - 334
Bama - 16 Ark - 11 Aub - 5 Fla - 13 UGA - 26 Ky - 10 LSU - 14 Miss - 27 MSU - 2 Mizz - 18 Okl - 30 USC - 9 Tenn - 9 Tex - 30 A&M - 5 Vand - 27 TOTAL - 252

The SEC is well on the way to ruining the totality of college athletics. What

they do not seem to realize, in their relentless drive to own college football, which is what finances all that other stuff, is that if they really do acheive their goal, and have an SEC Super Conference, where they have separated themselves, and have their own Championship, they have cut off their nose to spite their face. They will not be able to claim they are champions of college football, only of a minute part of it. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

The SEC has won 14 of the last 20 national championships and with 5 different teams. I don’t think they are worried about anything outside of the SEC and B1G.
