LSU being 3 spots ahead of us makes no sense!

They were blown out by Tenn...we were blown out by ND! They lost to FSU...we beat FSU!
So really, the only explanation is SEC bias! Prove me wrong!

I'll answer this way. When and if Clemson plays Bama or LSU in the Orange Bowl, Dabo will go on and on for weeks about how the Tigers are playing the best team they've played all year.

LSU has 2 losses
Nov 22, 2022, 9:06 PM
|
|
One of their TWO losses was against FSU. That's the same FSU team that we beat.
Here's an example of that being reversed:
Let's say Clemson is 9-2 with losses against FSU and Tennessee. LSU is 10-1 with a loss against BYU, but a win against Tennessee.
How would you rank them?
I can tell you that I think we'd see Clemson around 15, and LSU would be in the top 4. No question... LSU would be playing for an SEC Championship in 2 weeks; whereas Clemson wouldn't even have won their division. Shameful! But that would be what we'd expect to happen.
YET, Clemson only has 1 loss to LSU's 2 losses. And on top of that, one of LSU's losses came against a team that Clemson beat. THEY SHARE A COMMON OPPONENT! The absolute F'ING gall of these people to rank LSU above Clemson is a insane. The CFB Playoff Committee needs to be fired. Immediately. The media is what it is. Follow the money and they're easy to predict. But, for the rest of us... the ones NOT in the "It Just Means More" conference, you can't tell us that 1+1=3.

It’s So they can put LSU in if they beat Georgia. That’s the only reason. They don’t want to have to justify moving LSU way up if they beat Georgia. The committee couldn’t possibly entertain the idea of leaving the SEC champion out while putting in the SEC championship loser in. So, basically, the committee is also telling you if Georgia beats Georgia Tech, then they are in no matter what.

This is the answer. It only doesn't make sense if you believe the Committee really starts over from scratch each week. They have to keep LSU there in case they beat GA. If they somehow lose to TAMU then is will be real interesting to see where they are ranked. They have to have them where they are now so they can justify putting in a two loss conference champ and a one loss GA in the Playoff.
Clemson got the same benefit of the doubt in the first rankings when we were ranked four. That was to head off any controversy over whether an undefeated Clemson was in or out. We would still be four if we had not lost.
We are in a good position as a one loss team. Heck the stats guys like 538 still have us at almost 50% odds to make the playoffs.
All Clemson needs to worry about is winning the next two games. If LSU, TCU and USC all lose a game and Clemson does not- we will probably be playing GA or OHio State again this year.

The polls never make sense. IMO there is too much politics in all polls including the CFP poll!
Every year there 4 to 6 schools the will always be at the top of the preseason polls. I think we should NCAA should start polls in week 5 or 6.
And many may or may not agree, but OSU, LSU, Georgia and other top teams that start off in the top 5 stay there even though they play cupcake schedules. OSU plays Michigan and who else? A bunch of 6-4 and 5-5 teams. Many of them not ranked but the media and the announcers fall all over Ryan Day and OSU. Same goes for Alabama.
Start the polls in week 5, 6 or 7’gives more teams a fair chance at the CFP’s.

The reason we’re ranked lower is because

Of how bad some of our wins have been.
Sure, a win is a win, but some have been extremely sloppy….not a few little mishaps, but a ton of turnovers and horrible plays.
We’re clearly a good team, because we still find a way to win, but man the predictable/bland play calling just takes the wind out of our sails if I’m voting.
Also why I think anybtalk about us being a playoff team is just silly unless we can really blow these last two games up and show we’ve got our act together.

Did you see how sloppy LSU's win vs Arkansas (with a backup QB) was? That was "uglier" than any win we have on our schedule.

Sure did. Faux Death Valley corn dog Tigers cost me money! I tend to think there are no ugly wins but that qualified.

IMORANGE Your point about how we loooked is something; I would like to address!
Football - this is to the talking heads - "is not just about scorin touchdowns"! I say again, it's not just about who is the flashiest or most explosive"! If that was the case; all those Oregon Duck teams with the high-powered offense and flashy uniforms would have won several NC. But, they didn't!
This is where i.m.o( understand it won't be share by many here) the NFL has it right! You put all the best teams in it and let them sort it out on the field.
In a few years, none of this will matter besides seating purposes and 1st round matchups. For this season though - he who has the prettiest wins seem to be winning.
What has Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconscin, Michigan State, Michigan, Maryland, etc. any of them done over the past two decades that warrent them the attention? Nothing! They are just in big TV markets. Talking heads keep talking about them to the point people just seem to believe they are better than they are. They are hot garbage. Last time NW won the Big 10 west - Duke of the ACC went to NW and beat them on their field!!!!!
Yet, they Big 10 west champs! It doesn't get called out; because Chicago is a huge TV market. Dollars and cents is what it's about; not some ugly wins!
Bias toward who can earn the networks more TV advertisement dollars! Versus a small market schools with a "good story"! Over-hype it because that's where the money is. Sell it; because it puts money in your pocket. It also gets viewership on the TV shows that talk about those schools. The smaller schools with the small following does not. Which is in essence why they have been saying eventually the SEC and Big 10 will form their own Championship/league! The Big - Big - Boys if you will!

And that is because we have a poor excuse for a FCS QB...the only position that can kill you time again is the QB and in rare situations the place kicker! BT Potter is first class!

What makes less sense is LSU being ranked ahead of Tennessee with both teams having the same record and Tennessee beat LSU 40-13 on the road. Tennessee dominated that game from the very beginning and was up by 30 at the end of 3. In fact, Tennessee is ranked behind 2 teams(LSU and Bama) with the same record as them that they happened to beat.
Obviously LSU gets a lot of credit in the rankings for beating Bama, but the biggest boost is how they blew out Ole Miss whenever Ole Miss was ranked #7. Ole Miss was unbeaten but hadn't really beaten anyone aside from Kentucky which is no longer an impressive win, but the perception at the time was that LSU destroyed a top 10 team. In fact, LSU was unranked going into that game in the AP poll and then jumped up to #18. They were off the next week and then moved up to #15 due to other teams losing, and then the first CFP poll came out that week and had them at #10.
Even if Ole Miss was a legit top 10 team that would've been a very dramatic move up due to 1 good win to go along with a 6-2 overall record. Then of course the following week they knocked off Bama and the hype train kept on going.
The problem with voting often is the voters don't ever seem to go back and consider if a win like the one over Ole Miss wasn't quite as impressive as they thought at the time. Ole Miss has gone on to lose 2 out of their next 3 games with the 1 win being a 3 point win over 4-7 Texas A&M. They also got blown out by a 6-5 Arkansas team. The final score ended up being 42-27 but they were down 42-6 entering the 4th.
Of course you had to move Tennessee back after the way they lost last week, and the only way to have moved them back and keep them in front of LSU was to also move LSU back so it didn't surprise me to see LSU move ahead of them. However, that speaks more to the fact that LSU shouldn't have been ranked that high to begin with. Had LSU been ranked somewhere between 10-12 before this past week then you could've moved Tennessee back and still had the ranked in front of a team they blew out on the road.
