Believe they used to have a good reputation back in the day for good OL. Have not kept up with that as much as of late.

They seem to have a few very good ones each year. The one I remember most was Trey Smith, who now plays for the Chiefs. He had blood clots in his lungs and was told he may not ever play again. They were able to treat the condition and manage it. He came back for his senior year and has been able to live his dream. Great story if you have the time to follow it.
Looks like they’re getting back to more consistently snagging higher-caliber players for that offense

Phillip Fulmer was very widely known as a Hall of Fame CHEATER!!!!! I have a Friend who is a close Friend of Steve Spurrier and SOS used to always say that Fullmer cheated like H-E-L-L!!!

Cheater? By violating NCAA rules that were blatantly illegal?

Federal law matters, not the NCAA rules that violated it.

also federal law? That's an interesting interpretation of how sports should operate. I get that things have changed, and some rights have been granted with pay for play (or 'likeness') but to retroactively give coaches passes for breaking existing rules at the time is generous.

That's a ridiculous Strawman Argument.

Stop trying to put words in my mouth.

I'll spell it out for you. The specific rules I'm talking about were violations of federal law.

I didn't mention any other times. They are outside the scope of my post.

He tried to make it sound like I said that any association rules other than those we used by the courts are illegal. I said no such thing.

Apparently you mistakenly assumed that my response was to something else.

I'm still confusedFulmer had a set of rules that he was supposed to

abide by for fair play and (supposedly) he chose not to. He wasn't on some crusade to show the wrongs of the world and fight the system, he would have chosen to break them for a completive edge no more no less. So because in the 2020's things were flushed out and changed, he gets a pass because now it was shown that the NCAA violation was against federal law? That's a long stretch, about as long as mine was saying you had a blanket disregard for association rules.

The luster has worn off of Clemson's shine lately.

Mediocre records, Dabo's anti portal stance, Dabo's anti NIL up front stance.

Expect more recruiting losses unless something changes drastically.

Those SEC teams are writing big checks. We will see how these young, all of a sudden wealthy athletes, react to coaching and play on the field. I'm guessing they won't mix well with the non NIL players or those that don't receive much dividends. I'm thinking that was part of the DJU problem. Remember how he tried to emulate Scam Newton's apparel at the pressers ? That did not last long when he started catching heat for it.

Amick helped them get a Natty in baseball and got drafted. I’d say it was worth every cent to he and the University.
We got retread Leggett, though. Don’t underestimate that 👌

Well so much for him going somewhere that produces great OTs or even great o linemen. They've had two selected total the last three years and only one first rounder. Luke has a much better track record so it's obvious our past offensive linemen situation didn't really matter. Wonder what it could have been?

That is no longer illegal!! Just because our coach thinks he is better than any other coach and will not use cash to land a couple of big fish, is no one's fault but Dabo's. Let's say Sanders was told at Clemson he could earn 100k in NIL money at signing. If everyone else is offering 30p to 500k, what do you do.? If you want him, you find a booster to make a deal in the NIL framework. Make it look legal. Which is what everyone else is doing. 8-4 , 9-3 coming our way

They sure kicked our ### 2 years ago, and that was not far after the Dooley/Jones/Pruitt years 🤷‍♂️

I don’t think that’s it.

They’re one of the top 10 winningest programs in CFB until recently. Got twice as many Nattys as us, bigger stadium, beautiful campus, better conference.
The NIL stuff is probably part of what makes kids want to play there, but it definitely ain’t the only part.
It is what it is 🤷‍♂️

Then enjoy seasons of 8-9-10 wins. That's my only problem with fans tbat say we don't pay players at Clemson and that we are never gonna pay NIL like everyone else. That's OK, but NEVER COMPLAIN , when we miss tbe playoffs more times than we make and we never win another natty. It's OK to be different and be perceived as old fashioned. But with every decision comes a consequence. Just be prepared for those and move on.
