My first game was Wake Forest in '81 at 5 years old. I didn't know much about football then, but I learned how do the cadence count that day and how cool it was that everybody stuck their hand out and waved at end of the alma mater. Today my 5 year old boy learned those same things. From sitting up wide eyed when the first cannon shot to covering his ears while yelling at the top of lungs for reasons that he doesn't know other than everybody else was doing it, to getting fist bumps from players on the field after the game. It was the perfect night for him and the family.
I would like to apologize to the privileged cranky farts sitting behind me in section J, row K seats 5-7-9 that seemed annoyed when my son would yell Fight Tigers Fight during a tv timeout for no other reason than he just wanted to. Fortunately, he won't remember you and the peanut shells you threw on our seats when we stood up, which was most of the game, but instead he'll remember the other 80.000+ fans that had a great time.
Besides that, Thanks to all of Tiger Nation, the fans, players, coaches and even the couple of cool ND fans beside us for making his first game one that he'll never forget.
Now that all our game clothes are in the dryer and I've had my celebratory glass of Angel's Envy, It's time to call this great day over and enjoy sleeping in very late.
