One thing I missed and how that relates to Pitt and Wake

First...shame on me. I did think about it last week, but I did not let it sink in until hindsight. And this post will also relate in comparison to Pitt and our challenge this week....Wake.
I was awash in Miami's thrashing of Pitt and simply did not think much of the fact that Pitt was one of the best offensive teams in the conference. The 28 they scored vs. Miami in the the loss was the lowest points they had scored in a conference game to date.
Just in ACC Games (including Clemson game), Pitt is averaging 37.5 points a game.
I only used ACC Games as my measurable for this post, but as an aside, Pitt also scored 42 vs. Penn State....who is about to be a top 10 team.
So, shame on me (and maybe shame on our players) for not realizing and recognizing how good Pitt was offensively.
So, should we be worried about our defense? Sure we should.
But our challenge this week is drastically different.
In ACC games, Wake is averaging 18.8 points per game. That's 18.8 for Wake compared to 37.5 for Pitt.
We should always be nervous going into a game. But let's not think our defense is terrible and we are going to give up 35 points to Wake. The #'s simply show I (we) undervalued Pitt.
Put it one more way: If Clemson scores the least amount of points it has in an ACC game this week vs. Wake our offensive total will be 24.
if Wake scores the MOST points it has in an ACC game this year they will put up 28.
Can Wake win? Yes. But this week's challenge will be much different than last week's.

Sure - you're right. But I believe someone is paid (probably a lot) to make sure we don't get that wrong, if in fact we did just simply take Pitt for granted. I'm not sure that's all there was to it.
Teams have a lot of film to watch now to figure us out and yet, we keep doing the same thing over and over again. If that's all we've got, then so be it.

Pitt's game plan that they brought into DV was like

nothing they've really done this year. They ran some of it against Penn State, but not much. I think it took everyone by surprise at first, then once we caught up and made adjustments their execution was close to perfect. They took away the strengths of our defense.

They got the best of us, for sure. Defense and OL should have been able to adjust, imo.

Yes, the Defense could have adjusted quicker/better. The O-Line gets somewhat of a pass imo because of all the injuries, which led to playing 2-3 true freshmen throughout the game. O-line only gave up 1 sack iirc. The run blocking was beyond bad - some of that was due to the injuries.
It is amazing how well they are in pass protection yet so putrid in run blocking. Maybe it's the zone blocking scheme? Perhaps someone with more knowledge than me could answer this?

freshman offensive lineman to step in and perform up to par, than it is for a defensive lineman, so I'd say your correct. There were just too many busts in coverage, turnovers, and penalties (whether they were penalties or not) that allowed Pitt to have a shot at the end.

Everyone is doing that this year and that is what makes BVs job so hard. Only hope is that we can out score other teams and that has rested solely on the shoulders of Deshaun. We need him to make better decisions and not try to force some throws into double or triple coverage.

Wake really struggles offensively.....

They will try to bleed the clock and limit possessions, but I don't see them scoring much at all. Their defense will challenge us, and we may kick a couple of FGs in this one, but I could see this being a 27-10 type of win. Or we may continue the offensive onslaught and drop 40+ on them.
