Any redeeming qualities in the state of North Carolina?

Can't think of anything good about that place. North Carolina's proudest moment apparently is two guys from out of town playing with their airplane at a North Carolina beach during a weekend about a hundred years ago. How lame is that?

Also, Whitewater Falls is, alas, across the state line.

She was/is one of the most kind an gentle women I've ever known. She behaved like an adult even back when we were children.
It doesn't matter what they look like when they are 25 for they all turn out to be toothless old hags in the end!
Since she is my age (61) I'd say no. There's nothing there worth having.

I biked 1000+ miles last Thur-Sun which included a trip to Mt Mitchell on the BRP - absolutely freaking gorgeous. Also, rode the "Moonshiner 28" which is partly in NC - and it was the REASON that I went there from Bama. So yes - I can't wait until I retire and get to enjoy even more of that beautiful country.
You need to get out more.

taken. I have spent as much of my adult life as possible in Jackson, Macon and Transylvania counties. Love it up here and - even though I was born and raised deep in the Lowcountry - don't plan on leaving.
The only things I don't like about WNC are the bad tomato/ketchup barbecue and the difficulty getting fresh-picked SC oysters (everybody up here wants to sell me bland, rubbery Gulf Coast crap). During football season, I am able to get my old crew to bring up a few bags of Bulls Bay oysters and a few pounds of Williamsburg Co. pepper-and-vinegar barbecue from Scott's or Brown's (a lot like that Down East stuff, Rev., but better).

When my Dad got to the Officer's Club at Fort Bragg, April 20, 1945 and my Mom was waiting there to greet him. Still have his debarkation notice from New York and the telegram he sent Mom on when and where to meet him.
38 Months in 8 campaigns on the front lines and not a visible scratch, but what we know as PTSD plagued him for many years.
