He can still leave in April 2024 in the next portal opening. He will get tampered with by the portal players like LSU, Ole Miss, OSU, UA, etc., before then. Dabo is'nt dirty enough to stop it. Also, its doubtful that Clemson NIL has enough money to offer and/or retain portal players.

No need to worry, we just have to get the kids to commit and earn it… there is plenty there for players that perform at Clemson.

You’re knowledgeable about this stuff. Here’s a question. Like you say Dabo doesn’t buy recruits, they need to earn it. So, it would seem there would be more NIL resources to focus on retention of good players since we don’t use NIL for recruitment as much (for HS and portal)?
Do you think that is playing out - we are at a recruiting disadvantage but retention advantage?

It will be delicious if Dabo can make another big run doing it his way - recruiting good and maintaining some semblance of team unity and culture through development and retention.

Dude how many guys that have been productive at Clemson have left for other schools? Clemson has people who go out and find the NIL for those guys, this won't be an issue for guys like Moore, Tyler Brown, Etc.

I hope you are right but what happened with Mukuba and Collins, and Pride to a lessor extent? Did we not care to see them walk away?

2 of them were told they wouldn't be starters.

The other one was not the priority on the NIL list he wanted himself to be.

You seriously think our coaches told any of these kids they would not be starters? They were all contributors on the 2 deep this year. I have a hard time believing a coach would tell a contributor they would not be a starter. That would be bad coaching. That pecking order is established in spring ball and fall camp?

They just don't want to admit Clemson can generate NIL but you gotta earn it. Mukuba saw the writing on the wall with Barnes exploding on to the scene and he wanted to go home after his freshmen year but the staff and I'm guessing NIL had a part in changing his mind.
Pride is not better than Terrel or Lewis so he also went home where he would start.
Collins lol what else needs to be Said? The kid just did not have the juice to hold off guys coming in and imo Randall was pushing him all year.

But they were all contributors on the 2-deep right? If we aren’t going to use NIL for recruiting we darn sure need to lock down our functional depth. Collins has not been great but was a starter much of the year. I’m not do sure Randall is going to be a lot better than Collins. Hope you are right.

Mukuba is the only one you listed that I would call a true contributor.
Collins was a massive liability and Pride rarely played after Terrel and Lewis showed out.
Very few reserves are commanding any serious NIL, it's mainly high profile recruits that have to redshirt that get big NIL as a backup or 2 deep player.

Ok fair enough. So you’re saying addition y subtraction. That makes sense. I just hope we have the additions that are a step up.

Speculating? Hoping? What is the basis for such pessimism, unless you have inside information. What if the kid simply wants to play for Dabo at Clemson?
I hate the TP (as is) and NIL (for what it has become), but I don’t take the absolute worst possible take on these things. Yeah he could leave, but he could also be a high character standout. We do recruit those.
