The ironic thing about the Penn St situation is...

Jul 12, 2012, 5:36 PM

they cared more about their legacy/image than the kids and this is what now they will be remembered forever for...not the wins...it will be the legacy of not stopping Sandusky and enabling a predator to continue about his business in their midst.

honestly the death penalty may not be necessary, recruiting

will suffer far longer than SMU's did. Maybe it won't ever get as bad(they might never drop below a top 50 team), but this will be a legacy that they'll have to deal with for years to come.

I know part of the reason I came to clemson was for the sports program. If I identified the sports program with a Sandusky-style cover-up, I never would want anything to do with Clemson sports.

It took SMU 20 years to recover, people will still remember PSU's sins for half a century or longer.

:ave you looked at the recruiting rankings recently

Personally I don't know that the death penalty is appropriate for cases like this. That said Penn State is doing pretty well in recruiting this year and the further removed we get from the incident the less the impact. Thus next year there will be an even smaller impact on recruiting than this year.

Look PSU simply tells the players parents "we got rid of everyone associated with the time in history. We are committed to doing things differently and besides everyone will be looking for us to make a mistake. Little Johnny will be just fine at Happy Valley"

PSU is going to have a HUGE financial liability which in the end will hurt the football program. That said I doubt the scandal has as much impact as many believe.

I guess I wonder what they thought would happen. Did they just hope he would never get caught? Seems they'd have looked much better dealing with this joker up front and getting him prosecuted. No one blames them that he is screwed up and did this. Everyone blames them for doing nothing once the found out what he was doing. How you justify letting that continue is beyond me

Problem was Paterno was arrogantly in charge of.

Jul 12, 2012, 5:53 PM

that university. I remember a few years ago, he told off a president of the U. who suggested it was time for him to retire and all the PSU fans stood behind their "god"!

When I read the grand jury report, what jumped out at me

Jul 12, 2012, 5:52 PM

first was the fact that Paterno never ever made an attempt to determine the identity of the child in the shower with Sandusky and to make certain that he was no longer abused and that he got the help he needed.

Never ever did he make an effort to determine who the child was and if he was safe. It never seemed to occur to him.

That told me what kind of man Joe Pa was.

NCAA wont do anything. Like the fire marshal showing up after your house burns down. He says" Huh, looks like you had a little fire."

Need to use the 1st amendment.

When on any CFB related board, always refer to PSU football team as the fighting Sanduskies.

Every coach should ask the parents of the recruit if they feel safe sending their son to PSU.

There should be a sign in the background of Gameday every sat morning to remind people how bad the situation was/is at PSU.

Any good ideas for PSU Gameday signs?
