We shut down a potential number 1 pick last week at home. Why should our defense have trouble with Rattler just because we're in Cootlumbia?

At times we've only had trouble with one quarterback, ours. The defense has handled the opposition!

Maye still had a lot of success running the ball. Interesting that he only slid--maybe once? A couple times it looked like defenders pulled up from hitting him because they anticipated him giving himself up, but he didn't. I think it was Trotter who ended up babying him to the ground.
It looked like we either respected him a lot or were willing to surrender extra yards to avoid roughing.
Not sure we'll make the same choices against Rattler.

Yeah and as good as Maye is , I would guess they could live with letting him run instead of the RB and WRs. I dunno though.

If Juice Wells plays (which it looks like he will) Rattler will cause some problems. When Wells and Legette were on the field together at Georgia they gave Georgia all they could handle. When Wells went out with the foot injury they were able to take Legette away, but Georgia had no answer for both of them. Also Georgia only sacked Rattler three times. In that environment Clemson needs to RUN THE BALL and just own the TOP.

With Wells on the field they went straight down the field and scored. Rattler went 8/8 for 67 yards on the drive. I mean think what you want, but they are definitely more efficient when Wells is on the field. Clemson can absolutely dominate the game, but I’d be a lot happier if I knew he wasn’t playing.

I agree with you that Wells and Legget on the field together can cause an issue. I believe Wiggins can keep Wells bottled up for the most part but the issue could be Legget getting one on one with Trotter. I'd feel better with Carter covering Legget and Trotter pounding Rattler every time he tries running.

I'd much rather have Carter with safety help than Trotter. Maybe Im looking at Legget wrong cause from what I've seen of him they like to use him on slants over the middle but I don't watch the Gamecrusts play very often lol

Barnes will be covering him in the nickel spot. Nobody except USuCk's offensive coordinator wants to see a LB on a WR.

I went and checked out Legget and I agree with you lol I was thinking of him more as a TE than a WR but he is most definitely a fast WR and while Carter is fast he's not that fast. Maybe Wiggins needs to be on him instead of Barnes due to Wiggins being faster.

Wells scored in Q1 and hasn’t played a snap since. He’s a game changer and played about 20 snaps all year. Doubt he plays against you but if he does…he and Legette together are a handfull.
Plus, comparing the environment at Williams Brice Stadium to Chapel Hill is laughable. I expect you to win in the end, but it won’t be easy.

If Wells plays, and plays the entire game, it's going to be a different ballgame. I like Wiggins, but in that scenario, your DBs are in trouble. You'd just have to try to get as much pressure as you can, which you may. I don't think we'll bother trying to run it.
We would have beaten UGA with Wells. When he went down, their secondary was able to lock in Legette and we couldn't do much.

which allows UofSC to hang around, Clemson wins by at least two TDs.
I find it interesting how the local media insists that UofSC is surging at the right time after winning three in a row over Jacksonville State, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky.
When Jacksonville State is your best home win of the season, I'm not sure "surging" is the right word.

Maye played out of his mind from the pocket, it’s remarkable be was “only” sacked 4 times. He avoided probably 5-6 more, and that’s a credit to him.

which they may or may not be this weekend. They need to get Wells back.
Xavier Legette is far and away better than anybody we have. He has close to 1200 yards and over 18 yards per catch.
Our top 3 targets (Collins, Brown, and Briningstool) have a combined 1393 yards and are averaging just over 11 yards per catch.
Legette has arguably been more productive than all 3 of them combined if you factor in his far greater efficiency.

For some reason I was thinking we were talking about USC WRs vs Clemson WRs instead of UNC WRs. I think you are correct that SC WRs > UNC WRs is debatable now that Tez Walker is eligible and has been very good for UNC.
My bad!

Rattler does a great job with not much. He takes a beating behind that line and puts that team on his shoulders. Came in our house and beat us with a team that had no business beating us last year. I'm not sure about the Maye comparison. Theoretically it isn't that good but he's got my respect.

Maye is a better QB and has more weapons than Rattler but if we cant get pressure on Rattler... he can do some damage. We just need to be sure we dont do the fumble thing where they get great field position or a scoop and score early... or basically just dont do what we did at Duke. We are the better team.. lets see if we can go on the road a play a good game. We really have only done that against Syracuse this season.

Is about clemson defense. As they say, defense travels. Usually a crowd doesn't impact a teams defense too much. To your point our offense will have to deal with toughest road environment all year. Quite frankly, I think that's why the line is only -7.

We played at home against UNC…
The crowd will be out of the game by halftime, we are peaking at the right time, it’s going to be really ugly for South Carolina, we gave them the game gift wrapped last season, it won’t happen this time.
This team is having fun and has hit its stride at the right time. It’s going to be fun for our RB’s and Cade will hit a couple long passes in this game too!
I’d hate to be the gamecocks because this one is going to be embarrassing for them.
