Bigger concern than #5 or #2...

Sep 7, 2022, 10:11 AM

Not going to try to convince either faction which QB is "the" guy...my biggest concern is OL depth. Am I the only person that is worried that our true freshman RT wasn't subbed or replaced for a series? I get that the kid has earned his spot and he's going to be really good but the other night it blew my mind that they decided they were going to stick with him even though he was getting beat off the ball really bad. Any of the OL guys are a twisted ankle, rolled up knee or stepped on foot from missing significant time. I sure hope their backups are good enough to compete.

the college game. That wasn't going to happen if he was riding pine.

I actually consider it a testament to the confidence Dabo had in the rest of the team, that he would leave the young man on the field, and let him figure out some things on his own, instead of benching him.

It was no accident that the running plays started going to the opposite side in the 2nd half. This took a lot of the heat off Miller, and I suspect we will see quick improvement from him, now that he has some real world experience at the college level.

You have to leave them on that island to figure it out sometimes, just like a new job you have to sweat it out a little while before you start mastering it.

Dabo left him in because he knew the kid could handle it.

He definitely looked like a Fr. and made some mistakes...

but hopefully he learns from it and and uses the experience to make him better.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Very well said. It's hard to hide in that OL room when you're reviewing film together. He will learn from it, get "coached up", and get better. This is also an opportunity for Parks to mentor him, having lived at RT last year. I re-watched the game and saw LOTS of things he did right. More of THAT, please!

That was a long term decision

and the right one. Blake needed to experience that and will improve greatly during the season.

parks is his backup

Sep 7, 2022, 10:36 AM

parks would move over to right tackle and back up right guard moved into parks slot. Why they cross train.

Yep. We still have a long way to go. Maybe they will improve as the season goes along.
