The culture of Tiger basketball doesn't change with the coach.

Feb 11, 2015, 9:26 AM

Its a result of the fanbase.
Reading all the hate and blame, things like f--- this player, or 1 player cost us the game, are a part of this clemson culture that has nothing to do with whoever the coach may be.

You want Clemson culture to change, go to games, be loud, support the players, and figure out ways to make well thought out statements, in person or online, rather than just taking the ignorant and easy approach of slamming the guy of the day. We all get frustrated with losses or a bad performance, but a team is just that.

It starts with a vision and commitement from the school,

assuming we have a ready and willing fan base, which I believe we do. The right coach is certainly a huge piece of the puzzle.

I think we have shown over the years that we can pack the house with rowdy fans - that's not a problem. The problem is that our fans have been beat down so thoroughly and repeatedly that we now have a generation of fans who simply don't think we can win big at Clemson. We can be as loud and crazy as possible, but that's not gonna bring wins; better players will, and better players must see the vision and the commitment, and have a reason to believe that it can be different at Clemson. It will never happen without the right coach, and that may or may not be Brownell.

Ok fine. Just what top name coach is going to come to Clemson with their history? Look who we have to recuit against--UNC, Duke, ND, Syricuse, Louisville..Tghere are only so many top players. And recuiting nationally to a school with no tradition is a problam. Not saying it can't be done. Yes it takes committment. but in my opinion, we are going to have to "discover" a coach like we did with Dabo. Brownell seems to be trying to build a relationship with past stars. If we can get alumni who are former NBA players to get involved legally with recuiting, this would help more than anything.

I don't disagree, and I don't expect us to hire Rick

Pitino or Mike Kryswzxtqlski, and we wouldn't have to. To be clear, I'm not saying that Brownell is not the right guy, just pointing out that having a head coach that top players either can relate to and love to play for, or they believe can win big, is an absolute necessity and the first, perhaps most important part of the puzzle. I didn't expect Brownell to be that guy when he got to Clemson, but IF we are going to reach our potential, not becoming that guy is not an option.

I'm gonna have to disagree. I don't think we have commitment from the school on the level we should have. We're an ACC school. Yeah, we may almost fill-up Littlejohn when big name teams come to town, but that place should be filled up for EVERY conference game.

And IDK why our fans think our coach is the problem. Brownell is doing a fine job bringing players in and winning games. Brownell's style works with our current team. We can't pick up the pace because, from what I can tell, we don't have the endurance.

I guess I'm just confused as to why we make a statement by losing by only 2, with a chance to win, to the #10 team in the country. I'll take that in the powerhouse ACC for where our program is right now. We're moving forward.
