The coots could control Clemson's fate.

Oct 24, 2022, 10:59 AM

The following is very possible.
TCU wins out and goes undefeated as Big 12 champs.
Michigan and Ohio state have only the one loss between them.
GA, Tenn and Bama have zero to 1 loss depending on who beats who. The media bias really wants anyone but Clemson to make it in. They have accepted that GA, Ohio St and Bama will probably get in. They would love for Tenn or TCU to get in. Even Michigan and a lot of love going Oregon's way.
Strength of schedule is going to be important. The more SC wins the better it is for Clemson. Might have to hold your nose and hope they only have 2-3 loses when Clemson plays them.
Then beat them 55-0.
Go Tigers

Then I'll pull a GT quarterback and take the L when it comes to Clemson getting into the playoffs based on the coot's record. No way am I pulling for them. I hope they lose out.

Coots win, the more delusional they get. (A stretch to believe they could be any worse than they normally are, but roll with me on this for a second). The more delusional they get, the sweeter their Coot tears will be when we crush them once again. We might even get some more All Time Keeper Videos like these:

If we go undefeated we are in, Osu or Michigan winner is in unless one of them finds a way to get beat by someone else.

Oct 24, 2022, 11:16 AM

An undefeated Clemson team that wins a conference championship, is in. Done. That’s it. It is even written into the rules to give weight to conference champions and we are going to stay ahead of TCU.

Re: We need to beat them that’s it.

Oct 24, 2022, 11:26 AM

If both us and TCU and undefeated conference champions why would you assume we will automatically be in? If Carolina is ranked when we beat them in Charlotte that should swing the vote in our favor but you never know. There are usually not more than 1 or 2 undefeated teams but Playoff time and this year there could be 4 so who knows how a vote will go.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: We need to beat them that’s it.

Oct 24, 2022, 11:47 AM

Because TCU is in too. You are assuming the SEC is getting more than one team in. They won’t put in a 1 loss non champ in over Clemson or TCU if we are undefeated.

Stop and think…

Oct 24, 2022, 11:25 AM

Bama has already lost 1… TN or UGA will have to lose 1… TCU may go undefeated… OSU or Mich may go undefeated, but not both. No one in PAC will be undefeated.

So unless the committee decides to put a 1 loss team ahead of a no loss conf champion team, all Clemson has to do is win out and win the ACC.

Now if Clemson loses 1 game, they are in no man’s land and at the mercy of the court.

To be honest, if we are not playing with a “leave no doubt” game, I dread how we will do against a team like UGA or OSU. Even TN or Bama for that matter. So if we don’t put it all together by the ACC championship game, not making the playoffs may be a blessing in disguise. I’m pulling hard for them to keep improving so it is not a concern, but as of right now… I’m concerned! ?

An undefeated conference champion will always make it in, with one exception: all 5 conferences have an undefeated champ. There is no risk of missing the playoff if we win out.

Re: The coots could control Clemson's fate.

Oct 24, 2022, 11:44 AM

In a scenario where TCU is undefeated, OSU is Undefeated, SEC champ, and Clemson is undefeated. That’s your playoff. Period. Whoever is not the SEC champ is left out. Sorry. They will not leave an undefeated conference champ out. But yeah if we lose to SC we are probably out. Got to win out.

I’m not scared of SC though. Such a simple offense and they absolutely will not run on us. They better hope their QB has one hell of a day.

if we are depending on any other team to "make our resume look better," we haven't done what we need to do on the field.

Second, I'm never cheering for the freaking Coots to be successful in anything, ever.

If I'm pulling for anyone other than Clemson it's
going to be Maryland and TCU. Mayland is a dangerous
team and could potentially upset Ohio St. Then a Ohio St win over
Michigan coupled with a TCU that runs the table
essentially makes an undefeated Clemson a lock.

2024 purple level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

An undefeated Clemson is already a lock.***

Many on here have more confidence in the playoff committee than I do. Hope you are correct. That would really hurt to see Clemson go 13-0 and get left out. This year is looking like there could be 6-7 deserving teams who could make a case to get in.

Re: The coots could control Clemson's fate.

Anything could happen.

Undefeated teams are historically pretty rare.

Having multiple is even rarer.

The committee has said multiple times that they give some preference to conference champions.
