The Chad

Chad Morris' skills as OC will be big for the Tigers as early as the Jawja game. In the absence of proven skill players, hopefully, he can bring them together, as a unit, and be a pleasant surprise in 14'!

The Chad will have to earn his big bucks this season. A lot of production was lost and this years O will have to start the season with a lot of unknowns.

The fact that our O will be an unknown is also an advantage in the first few games. The opposing teams will have to guess who will do the most damage in their game planning. They can assume we won't be a running threat at QB as much as a passing one with Tajh gone, but that is about it.
They won't be able to key on Sammy or Tajh or Roderick. If they neglect tight ends, they will do,so at their peril. If they think we won't run, that will be a mistake. If they think we won't be as good in the passing game, big mistake.
Which poison will they pick?
Now all of this depends on the O line being serviceable though and THAT is where the focus must be.

With Stoudt getting the players lined up so quickly after each play, Morris is gonna have to step up his intensity to keep up and not make Stoudt and the team wait on him. Maybe drink and extra 5-hour energy drink before games.
I kid - well - a little anyway.

Even though Cole has been a backup for the past three years, he will have more experience in Chad's offense scheme than Tajh did his first year with Chad. If I recall correctly, our offense was pretty fair that first year. We'll be fine. GO TIGERS!

there is a difference in being sound or doing those things that are logical and being unpredictable. if you are running or throwing the ball at 7-10 yards a clip every play, you DO NOT stop doing it to prove you are unpredictable. many o play callers seem to have to prove to everyone they are smarter than others and in the process OUTSMART themselves. once again, take what the d gives you and do it till they stop it, especially if it is working.

I was just trying to explain what I think was his rationale for doing it. But your point is even better. He seems to be out thinking himself in these situations trying to convince others just how smart he is. A glimpse into a character flaw perhaps that he is learning to get under control.

I was mainly referring to giving up on the run in some games. I don't have a problem with a pass first offense, and we have been very balanced for the most part even though watching a game it seems not so. and some of our screen plays, quick slants, and jet sweeps are just also running plays of sorts. I just think he tries to trick or out think himself sometimes and it works for the opposition instead of us. most teams come in the game against us trying to stop the pass not the run. imo we need to take advantage of that more. the coots have given us the run every year and played ball control with run and forced us to play from behind which changes our game plan and forces us to do things we don't normally do.

Our O may have the advantage in the first game

of a UGA defense that never got great last year and has a lot of turmoil going so far this season. Sure, Pruitt will eventually get the players he wants, but it may not gel for a while. We may have a decent margin for error in matching up our O to their D. UGA run defense will be stronger than pass defense by far. Stoudt may get a chance to air more balle to some of our tall guys like Williams, Peake, and Leggett than we might think right now.

I have zero doubt in Chad Morris....

You have to remember, his second season as a college coach, he had a new starter at QB, only one proven starter at WR (Nuk) and another freshman WR in Sammy. Yes Tajh and Sammy were highly recruited out of HS but in Sammy's case he was completely new to the college game, and in Tajh's case he was having to unlearn one system and learn another one. All he did that year was beat FSU and beat VT twice on the way to the ACC Championship.
With several years under his belt and the recruiting we've had since then I am very confident in his ability and his offensive strategy to move the ball and put points on the board.
Also, for those who think he's all about a high-flying offense, remember, he truly wants to run the "smash-mouth spread" but adapted his strategy to fit the talents of players like Tajh and Sammy, something that is hard for a coach at any level, much less one who is still fairly new in his college career.
I still don't think we've seen the exact offense that Morris wants to run, and even though I think we will have continued success this year, I don't think it will be until we get D. Watson under center that we see what he truly wants to do.
