A former private high school teacher is facing charges after Ohio prosecutors said she had an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student. Emily Nutley, 42, is charged with six counts of sexual battery, Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers announced Oct. 28 in a news release. Attorney information for Nutley was not available. In 2023, Nutley was hired by St. Xavier High School, a Jesuit boy’s school in Springfield Township, as the supervisor of a program designed to help “students struggling with academics,” according to the prosecutor’s office. Nutley began communicating with a 17-year-old student who was in her program “outside of school hours,” texting him nude photographs of herself as well as sexually explicit messages, officials said. Powers said by mid-November of 2023, Nutley started to engage in sex acts with the student both on and off campus. When the boy tried to stop the encounters, “Nutley continued to contact the victim via text messages,” Powers said. St. Xavier High School administrators internally investigated the inappropriate conduct and alerted the Springfield Township Police Department, which led a criminal investigation resulting in the charges, officials said. “This is absolutely unacceptable and reprehensible conduct from an adult towards a minor child,” Powers said in a statement. “This child was in need of help and guidance but instead found an adult looking to act out her perverted sexual desires.” “Let me be very clear: this is child sexual abuse,” Powers said in the release. “This child was the victim of an adult predator who should never again have a role that puts her in contact with children.” In a statement shared Oct. 28 with McClatchy News, St. Xavier President Tim Reilly said school officials believe this was an “isolated incident.” “We respectfully ask for continued prayers for the well-being of our students, their families, our entire staff, and for all individuals impacted by abuse. We remain committed to providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for our entire St. Xavier community,” the statement said. Springfield Township is about a 15-mile drive north from downtown Cincinnati.

Speaking of:
Whatever happened with all the Thornblade stuff? I've been out of that area for a while now and someone mentioned all those goings on. I never heard any updates or repercussions on any of that.
What say you Greenvillians?
