I think he knows he is battling trying to save the Alamo. Or he is captain of the Titanic.
I think he knows he has an impossible task. He's putting the best spin on it possible. I think he knows it is a losing battle; but, he will do his best to try and win it anyway.
I have a lot higher opinion of him than Swofford. If Swofford were in charge, he'd be concentrating on how he could get a golden parachute as he jumped from the plane.

I think the problem with adding SMU or WVU or whomever is these teams will likely not generate additional revenue so each of the current teams would get a smaller piece of the current pie. Hopefully he has a plan...

ND will never join the ACC and never was going to no matter the circumstances. Had Swofford required ND to join in football in summer of 2020 they'd have simply sat out the season or played teams we've never heard of before joining the ACC. In no way will ND ever sign over their media rights to the ACC until 2036.

Do they release the details of the new Grant of Rights to the press or keep it secret?
Swofford got out right before all this happened. It seems very suspicious if it turns out there is no plan in place. And according to SEC Swankey, the ACC had it's chance and decided to forego it?

That's fair Bret. I am all in on Clemson. And Jim Phillips, an SEC grad and B1G job lifer, is about saving the ACC which could easily be detrimental to Clemson and FSU. Maintaining a conference through blackmailing it's only revenue producing teams who prefer to leave does not seem like the basis for a long-term outstanding conference.
