I really like who our Tigers are.
This year we won 10 games, the conference title and played in the College Football Playoff for the 7th time. Looking backward shows that we've played in 4 national championship games in 10 years winning 2 nattys. Only Alabama has a better record over the past ten years in the CFP than Clemson.
Like everyone else I wish we'd given Texas a better game on their home field. I take some solace with regards to the Longhorns since we have won more games, more conference titles and more Nattys in the last 50 years than Texas.
I know we have a great hall of fame coach in Dabo Swinney. I really appreciate the manner in which he operates our football program and represents our university. I am proud our players graduate.
We have come a long way up in the college football world for a small school in a poor state. In the 1930s Ohio State was playing games in the shoe to sellout crowds. Meanwhile Clemson was playing only 2 or 3 games a year at home on Riggs Field in front of a 1000 people. We played GT in Atlanta every year for decades for the money it paid us. We played SC in Columbia for decades. In my watching years we once went 20 years without a bowl invitation. After I matriculated at Clemson we racked up 8 losing seasons in 9 years. Many of us have been moaning and groaning recently over our performance the last 4 years while only 7 or 8 teams were winning more games and we were collecting 3 conference titles, several bowl victories and making the CFP yet again. You know'You can't win them all'. I like it a lot that we have a lifetime winning record over Ohio State and Notre Dame. Our Coach is 20-15 verses the SEC.
History and heritage counts in life and in sports. Clemson has a great history and Clemson fans enjoy a great heritage thanks be to God and our very good hardworking coaches, players and fans.
Go Tigers!!

Great perspective from a veteran poster. It’s not like we’ve fallen off the cliff, but unfortunately it will likely be missed by the majority of today’s Tigernetters.

Nice post. Not sure I like where we are due to the uncertainty of the environment. This is probably true for most fans across college football. We are currently in a period of chaos and have little confidence in the leadership of CFB will do whatever it takes to restore some semblance of order.

A lot of TNetters did not go through the Hootie years. We were robbed of a bowl game in '74 and we were driven downhill by Ken. West tried his best. I am enjoying these Dabo years because I know my time is limited and Dabo will eventually retire. Enjoy every win we get. Enjoy your life to the fullest extent because it is brief and in that time you will know true grief. Laugh, smile, and MERRY CHTISTMAS!

I imagine his judgement is pretty nasty since the forum has rules about personal attacks. I've only TDed one Clemson fan in my history and that was an accident. Sorry Suzi.

Great post ...For all the Tiger fans that have lived through post Danny Ford years and pre- Danny Ford , Tommy West , and Tommy Bowden these years were hard difficult years for the program. Then Dabo comes along and makes us a program to be reconned with so I think were heading in the right direct , am I happy with losing that would be never but being competitive is a long way from where we were. Thanks to the Tigers for showing some grit in Texas . God Bless the Tigers

and what Coach Dabo Swinney has done during his tenure.
He has had some very fun teams to watch, some not so good to watch, and some that were "must see TV". The young men who come through the program have great things to say about him and he cares about his players as men as much as football players.
Proud to be a Tiger fan all my life and forever how much of it I have left...Go Tigers!!
