Dabo's approach to the portal/is paying off after a few years. Nick Saban recently said there's a reason these players are in the portal.

Colleges that are taking the path of least resistance and using the portal to select "plug and play" players rather than the old fashioned recruit and develop are starting to get exposed. These schools have players that have no loyalty to the brand or the team and are jumping around looking for a quick buck and no competition for playing time.

These schools that load up on transfers are taking spots that once went to high school players that need to come in and get developed.

Are schools that rely on the portal hurting their recruiting and developmental skills? I think so.

Clemson is the best place for a quality High School player to come and have a legitimate opportunity to play early if your talented enough.

As long as Dabo can recruit solid Qb's the program is on extremely good footing. He'll use the portal if it makes sense and can recruit a high school player as talented as a portal player.

We don't make it to 9-4 from 4-4 last season if we were using the portal as frequently as most schools. They would have quit.

Overwhelmingly our problem hasn't been a lack of talent but a lack of availability. When you have to start freshman TE's at WR because everyone is on the injury report there isn't much you can do about that.

Exactly coaches who only care about keeping said job and said univ till a better said job comes open at another "better" said univ.

Dabo keeps Clemsons best interests at hand which means he keeps the players best interests at hand. He will use the portal if the above best interests are met, otherwise he will avoid the portal.

rely primarily on HS recruiting but supplement by sprinkling in portal. This is fact. I much prefer Dabo's way over fsu's way, but there is a happy median (much closer to Dabo's way) to be found. UGA, OSU and BAMA have found it.

The biggest attribute to Saban was his willingness to adapt. Saban evolved his offense and took the occasional portal kid.

There really is no argument here.

Dont think that has anything to do with it. There are plenty examples of kids you sign through the HS who get in trouble with the law.

What you refer to is a Kirby/leadership issue. Shocked UGA admin hasn't been better here.
