Thoughts on the changes to the hill entrance

For those not in attendance, the band generally strikes up the ‘Orange Bowl March’ when the buses reach the top of the hill, march towards the hill and then once completed, lead into the cannon firing and ‘Tiger Rag’.
Last night, they played the ‘Orange Bowl March’, and then when it was done a video of Dabo. Once the video was completed there was an awkward pause before the cannon was fired and the team came down the hill while the band started ‘Tiger Rag’.
Aside from the great tribute to Overton, what are your thoughts on this change? I was not a fan to be honest. I like the traditional version of the entrance better.

other than during commercial breaks. I especially hate the WWE style stadium entrance when that used to be one of our best traditions.

The last couple of years the DJ has started blasting music while the band is playing or the announcer is speaking. "We Will Rock You" is fine for a time out but adds absolutely nothing to our pregame and runs into the time Tiger Band has historically started playing.
As far as timing last night, the clock was around 3:06 when Dabo started down the hill. If he'd waited for the band to catch up we probably with have started the evening with a delay of game penalty.

I really don’t get the changes to the hill entrance. Was far better without all of the attempted hype, imo. Things change, the world changes. When I was at Clemson there was no “woo-hoo” in Tiger Rag. I try to focus on enjoying all I can about Clemson football (and college football in general) and accept there will be changes and not all of them will be ones as good as the changes to our offense vs App St. Go Tigers!

and the band began the Orange Bowl March. I loved the change. They need to get the timing right with the run down and Tiger Rag. Other than that, it was great.

it was to do the Overton tribute, the two 14's on the team ran down the Hill first followed by the team... don't think everyone got the memo...
I was an awesome last minute tribute... too bad it was lost on a lot of people.

…when they played WWRY in the 4th quarter of big wins. The Brian May guitar solo feels awesome in that context. I realize this is personal and subjective, though.

Separating the two band numbers was awkward feeling. When the band starts the “Orange Bowl March” and marches toward The Hill it time to go crazy to welcome the team in the stadium. We all had the way and see approach because it was not what we were used to. If they keep it the timing will get better but I hope we don’t keep sparing the two.
The Christian Wilkins into video was cool especially when they teased who it was.
That first quarter……🔥!
I can’t wait for the NC State game…Go Tigers!

I think the pause was for the tribute to Overton after the canons fired, I don’t think that’ll be normal every game .

Agree. I think between that and it being the first game the timing was just off. They didn’t show the team loading up the buses or drive around the stadium on the video board. Hope they get it fixed next game.

It is kinda amazing that someone, somewhere, had the thought in his office one day “ I know they say it’s the greatest entrance in college football the last 50 or so years, but I believe i have a better idea”
I agree with the balloons and tiger roaring really adding to the run down the hill. Not a fan of videos of anyone prior to the run down the hill whether it be Dabo or whoever. All I need is Frank Howard. If you have to use the video board, have Jim Phillips greatest calls in big moments throughout history..
Some things work because it’s not overthought . And I’m actually okay with every single thing in the stadium not being centered around a big t.v.

The pause was for Overton. That is why they had the two #14 jerseys out front and paused before the rest of the team ran down the hill.

It looked awkward even on television. I get times change and I'm fine with most of the piped-in music, but there is something very special about Orange Bowl march, immediately followed by the cannon, and the team running down the hill. Sad to see that sequence go.
