Which coach would you rather trade

Brownell or Legget and why?
Me personally i would rather trade Brownell, because we have slowly declined under his watch. Look at his record when he had all of OP's players, and look at his record now. Jack on the other hand has proven himself and he is the reason our expectations are so high in baseball.

Legged. And he is the reason why for a growing majority, our expectations are not high. Brownell will be fine.

I didn't realize OP's predecessor had 3 consecutive NCAA tournament trips and 3 years of a winning record in the ACC.

The basketball program was NOT in good shape when OP left it.
It was left in good shape for ONE year then after that it was not going to be pretty.
That is a fact.

Doubt it. Purnell knew how to win and compete. Plus he actually signed top 150 talent. His last 5 signees and 7 of his last 9 were in the Rivals 150. He would get it done.

lol that is not even close to being accurate.
He had ONE great class that had busts like Milton Jennings and Noel Johnson in it.
He had ZERO 4 star signees until 2009.
Brownell signed 4 Star Sullivan in 2011 and by everyone except Rivals Blossomgame was a 4 star guy.
Not to mention the fact that OP left because he was having a #### affair.

Marcus Thorton is a UGA player.
Noel Johnson doesnt play here and neither does Donte Hill.
OP couldnt keep it in his pants or they might still be here.

Cool. 2 out of 13 signings are top 150. I didn't say that Brownell didn't have any 150 kids. He just doesn't bring them around like Purnell was when he left. Facts don't lie that Purnell signed his last 5 and 7 of his last 9 in the echelon of recruiting.

Great? None because we didn't start freshmen (outside of Stitt) in those final years.
Young, Booker, Milton, and Johnson all averaged more than 10 minutes a game as a freshman - Sullivan hasn't averaged that yet in his career.
Who knows how the careers would be if he stayed. I am simply saying he could bring in talent based on recruiting. If you have seen the team this year, there is a clearly a talent deficiency, especially on the offensive end. We have had a player score 20 points 4 times all season. All 4 are by Booker and Milton (OPs recruits).

You mean that the great OP didnt have Freshmen that could come in and make great impacts. Which is basically what you are expecting from Brownell due to OP cheating on his wife.
Fact is Clemson is not a place that gets impact freshmen you have to build them.
You are also ignoring the FACT that Blossomgame is out for the year and was expected to be a very big contributor.

You expect a big contribution from a freshman at a place that doesn't get impact freshmen? Makes sense ... I think by this point we have put too many eggs in the Blossomgame basket. He should be a good player here, but a freshman isn't the answer to our problems.
OP could get instant impact from freshmen - see Stitt and Oglesby. By his last season, we didn't need that instant impact. We returned 4 starters from an NCAA Tournament team. We needed freshmen to play roles, and they did.

on an NCAA tournament team. He also average 9 points and 3 assists.
That is more impact than Devin Coleman, Adonis Filer, and Rod Hall. They combined for 12 starts as freshmen.

Which coach would you rather trade
Mar 2, 2013, 12:32 PM
|
|
Are you qualified to coach in either spiort, Savage Tiger? I ssume so since you suggest a lottery on which coach is to be removed. If you think OP left a stable of good players in their formative years, you are very misled. We have zero juniors on the team right now--so OP had no recruited frosh who stayed around for Brownells first year. Brownell is trying to get bonafide ACC players to Clemson and in his program. That is a slow go for a new coach hired late in the recruiting season. He has built a few ties around the Carolinas and Georgia now. Give Brownell a break and time to create a program. OP did not leave one and as far as that goes---Brownell has won more ACC games with what was here than OP has won in the Big East. Let the AD and his staff arrange for the coaching at Clemson. You'd best hope that Brownell is not so discouraged as to depart Clemson on his own recognizance.

Well one of those two has a Tradition rich program with top 25% of the Conference facilities.
One of them should be winning Championships and has ONE in 18 years.

clean house.......... get rid of them all
Jack... bc he is getting up there in age, can not recruit in state and can not win the big game
Brownell... he can not recuit and we are going backwards
Dabo.... four years of losing to the chickens.. Losing by double digits EVERY year and being favored in two of the games. he wins the conference by viture of how weak it is. And he STILL has not learned to shut up. every time he opens his mouth something stupid comes out.
RELOAD and start over

The answer is simple really
Mar 2, 2013, 1:43 PM
|
|
And a DUKE friend of mine summed it up best. He said: "When Clemson devotes half as much money as Duke does to basketball, they will start winning, and when Duke devotes the same to football as they do to basketball, they will start winning".
He made alot of sense. Clemson is a FOOTBALL school, and the culture (towards the bb program) has to change, for the reality to be any different. Basketball (dont crucify the messenger) is NOT a priority at Clemson. Football is NOT a priority at Duke.
Same with Baseball. Leggett and Brownell are GOOD coaches that have the misfortune of coaching at a FOOTBALL driven school.
You can disect that any way you like or feel free to disagree with me.....but you would be wrong!!
I pull for my Tigers in EVERY sport, but I am also a realist. Until the culture towards other sports changes, well....we get what we get!!
Go Tigers!!!

Clemson is a football AND baseball school. We have great tradition, good facilities, a great climate and a grid at geographical territory to recruit in. We also play in a power conference. Baseball matters. Not as much as football, but it matters

You don't trade coaches;you fire them.So go fire Brad, tell him thanks but you don't care for what he has done since Oliver left, which basically was not that impressive in itself considering he up and left much the same way the Colts left Baltimore for Indy.
