There's a big difference in being pleased to see teams we have beaten make us and our conference look strong, and saying "Roll Tide" or trying to initiate the "SEC" we're-really-one-big-team chant to Tiger fans in your halftime exodus on your way to a 49 point kit shicking. I will add that living in Chattanooga and seeing puke orange replaced by crimson half way through every season will make you more of an ACC Homer.

Maybe you would like to re-read. Geography lesson, here. Chattanooga is in Tennessee. Do you know what color orange they wear here? Yes, puke UT orange until they get on the mid-year band wagon.
And yes, I have now posted on your site twice. Both times to defend the Tigers against sec bias. I'm also a graduate (2000), an iptay member, and a season ticket holder. I know that all gets me street cred. Problem is this... I do wear my James Davis jersey on gameday, still. What can I say? I guess I'm a little superstitious.

Good lord man, who cares how many posts he's made in how ever many years? His post wasn't even cootish. Why do you pay so much attention to that stuff? You are kinda like upstategamecock on fgf. If someone's a coot troll, who cares? They are lots of fun to make fun of, let them post their nonsense. They will get banned soon enough.

Count me in with NAT because I'm loving it that Tiger opponents r undefeated in bowls. Helps recruiting too. All sec teams benefited from bama coattail.

Got it - know that bowl records aren't a 'true measure... indicator... yada yada ..." - but if it didn't matter, then they wouldn't play the games OR keep score, right? When we lost ('meaningless') bowl games to Kentucky, USF, etc., it still sukked for yours truly....
.....so I say: GO TIGERS!!!!!
and GO ACC!

Overall wins against strong opponents , percieved or otherwise is attractive to some kids who may be having a tough time deciding where to go . Thus , your recruiting gets an unintentional boost from those who face you having good results , because strength is sometimes only an illusion in CFB (See: 13 SEC teams not named Alabama ) . Almost nobody wants to play for a loser (See:USuC) . That clear it up for ya ?

Lol why the TD? We're having a friendly conversation about recruiting and how NC State beating Vandy helps us get recruits!
Me and Bob will just have to agree on this one, we don't need other schools to help us in recruiting. And you saying that recruits choose where they will spend 4 years based on another unrelated team in their conference beating another team they will probably never play, I'll just let you read that again and laugh with me.

I can't even agree with it being used. I respect your opinion NAT, but I don't think coaches waste their time getting in to stuff like that.

If you don't think SEC coaches pitch the conference you're crazy. That doesn't make what they're saying true but I would bet my life that coaches especially at the bottom tier schools like Scar and Kentucky make the SEC a big part of their pitch to recruits.

Which kid did you hear this from? Or are you saying that you would use this? Or did you hear someone on TV say this? Coaches don't have enough time with the kids to talk to them about all this meaningless stuff that only fans care about. They are spending every last second showing them the BENEFITS of their own school. Putting positive reasons in their head to attend the school. They might tell a kid that a coach is leaving and different stuff like that, but coaches don't care about this stuff near as much as fans that sit and listen to ESPN all day do.

And if that's your recruiting pitch, you would have just lied to a kid. That weak conference in the ACC just got a 1 loss team in, the loss coming from another one of those weak ACC teams

It's a bunch of bad football teams playing right now, I don't think anyone is judging the strength of conferences based on the games being played right now

True but the knock on the ACC has always been the bottom half teams being so terrible. It's good to see them getting some W's....

Oh yeah good to see their program getting a bowl game win for sure. The knock on any conference is just who you listen to. I heard people for the past few years saying that Clemson only has to win two games to win the ACC, so that's a knock on the ACC saying their are no elite teams.
I don't think anybody is judging the strength of the ACC by the lower tier teams. It's the Miamis, Virginia Tech, all the ones that used to be relevant that are terrible now. Those are the teams that will make the ACC relevant, the teams who are recognixed nationally. IMO
