Probably changed rock and roll as much as anyone on that list, and certainly more than tons of acts already in the hall.
Rock was going the way of hair band power ballads and going that way quickly before Jane’s Addiction came along. In fact, I’d say that in the late 80’s, Jane’s and The Black Crowes saved Rock n’ Roll from the direction it was heading in, and Jane’s definitely paved the way for grunge to hit in the 90’s.
Add to that the huge positive impact that Lollapalooza had on music in the 90’s, and that 100% came from Perry Farrell and JA.
It’s a giant ripoff if they don’t get in.

They were pretty much out of gas after UYI 1&2, and to make my point, even they had devolved into heavy ballad mode. Every real rock band left was doing freaking ballads. Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Cinderella, The Crue, Ozzy…..all pumping out ballads.
And I’ll fight heavily against the argument that the Crowes weren’t a real rock band. GnR are high on my list, but only real one since the stones is silliness.
