He hasn't coached a game and won't for months. Who knows how this hire will work or any hire for that matter (I think it's a HR) but he couldn't be more different than Goodwin in a news conference. He was personable, assertive and confident meeting with the media today. Goodwin always looked terrified and nervous (so how could he be expected to lead 18-23-year-olds if he couldn't speak in front of a small group of media members).

Hopefully, we are done with the hiring of 'projects' in critical positions.

and they had a bunch of very experienced coaches around them, unlike 6 at one time lately. Not to mention generational QB's (probably the best two in the history of the school)

So Wes Goodwin, a former defensive analyst, didn’t work out as our DC.
Does that mean a defensive analyst should never be considered strongly in the future for the role of DC?
That’s a rhetorical question. The answer is ‘of course not.’

Don’t know if anybody else picked up on it, but he said he knew Mickey Conn at Grayson HS when he was at Ole Miss.
Finally piecing this thing together after all these years..

that was a great "what if" story...but I wouldn't say "HE" was the reason for all that mess...lots of weirdness on that story and would make a great documentary probably - haha!
lots of crazy in that story - crazy talent, crazy family, crazy cheating from ol' miss and the list goes on

I had to turn his press conference off early because of it.

Who you are as a person.
You couldn't make it through a YouTube video because another man's voice wasn't your preferred timber. Holy #### that is hilariously weak. Lol.
Please turn your man card in. Immediately. At this point, if you had any dignity left you would stop posting on the football board.

Hey dork, he addressed it in his earlier statements in the press conference. And if you don't remember, BV was hoarse in his press conferences a good bit as well. Passionate, fired up Coaches tend to get hoarse From time to time. He was less than a week out from coaching the biggest game of his career for crying out loud! I'm sure he gave several impassioned speeches and Corrections within that week. Geez!

Because and I’m not really taking up for him, but those two things could not be farther apart mentally. Many can do one and not the other.

Yep, Wes just wasn't ready for that big of a roll yet. He will develop and get better at coaching and dealing with media , I believe. He was thrust into a position he wasn't quite ready for. But, I don't think we've heard the last of Wes Goodwin in a prominent football role somewhere. Much like Billy Napier wasn't ready back in the day but eventually grew in his career until he was hired to be the head man in Florida, I believe Wes will grow and progress in his career as well. So excited for Tom Allen, I think this will turn out to be a home run hire and I wish Wes all the luck in the world moving forward in life and in his career!
