Mac let me park my car there for a few hours while I arranged getting a tow truck. Imagine the fun of making the turn left turn at the armory with a transmission in its dying moments. Limped on down the road, because I was going to Mac to eat anyway, and it died.

Probably one of top 3 memories I have of my estranged cousin, besides some Christmas memories. I drove down to Clemson from Lyman. She was a Jr and took me around campus and took me to Macs. Ironically I ended up renting a home not far from there, block from old Pendleton Playhouse/Clemson Little Theater.

I enjoyed the shakes and the burger. I didn't enjoy the aesthetics of the lady with the whiskers and the roaches everywhere.

The guy said that wasn't worth the work to him. I told that jerk I didn't have the luxury of saying 'NO,' to my customers.
That was technically correct for I'd say 'NO,' with a number. A 30% increase on regular prices usually discouraged most builders and if they agreed I'd make bank working for them.

Coke dinner glasses. Burgers were pretty good. But never really saw the appeal. Mac was distant, always. Only talked to people he liked or knew. You could tell that place peaked when Reagan was in the White House.
I did manage to get the guy with the wandering eye to open up one day. Asked him if any players ever come in anymore. Nope. Then he went on some rant about the football nutrition program and how they were banned by the AD. Very bitter man.
I think that place blew up in the 80's, became popular with the players and coaches, Mac got all this recognition, and then the rug was pulled with the nutrition program, and ever since they've been bitter as people they thought were friends were not really friends. Get that strong vibe.
