Frank Martin--> 7th commit for 2013
Apr 24, 2013, 10:24 PM
|
|
Demetrius Henry, another one time strong lean to Clemson, signs w/ coots
7 commits for 2013
17 scholly players (only 13 spots)
4 existing players "have" to transfer
Seems pretty shady
Should he get benefit of the doubt for cleaning house of players from the prior coach's regime ..... or is this pretty sleezy not letting the players develop?

All indications are that Henry wont qualify. I wouldnt put it past Martin to find a way to get him in.

But #### glad to have such a high character coach, and I genuinely hope he can build this program. Had a chance to meet some of his family recently, and they are just some really great people.

Not letting players develop?

you think he's trying to keep them from developing?
Some of those kids aren't his- and aren't kids he would have ever offered in the first place.

Henry says he'll be there for 4 years, we know Martin told
Apr 24, 2013, 11:30 PM
|
|
him he would be
but Henry can't see that Martin is about to run off 4 or more players and some that he brought in last year will probably go
Cuber will run players off and recruit with dirty hands. What will the NCAA have to say when they catch him. Probably say, it's ok they are in the SEC and all these other violation in the last 10 years don't count.

have better players with this method. I just hope other schools use this against them in recruiting. He's basically telling better players that if they sign then he'll make room for them but booting some kid who he thinks doesn't make the cut.
Sux for them.

One of the reasons Henry committed to the Gamecocks was is mother. She wanted him to play for Martin. Reggie Theus Jr's dad was the one that reached out to Martin from California about his son playing here. Just like all those Miami families that lied about where they lived so their kids could play for Martin. Sounds like a real bad guy.

Martin is finding transfer sites for these players at a place where they may be able to contribute. Carlton Geathers is injured, has been his entire career here. They're getting him a medical redshirt so he can graduate, even though that uses up a scholarship next year. No one is being discarded as y'all seem to think.

not if you did not fulfill your commitment to play hard and progress. College athletes are free to leave at anytime so it works both ways. At Carolina and at Clemson. There have been many instances of both schools doing it.

If these players have given their best effort on the court and in the classroom, and are keeping their grades up, they have full-filled their commitment. It doesn't work equally both ways. Those kids have to sit out a year.

Almost the entire team quit in February last year. Brenton Williams and the 3 freshmen are the only players that even want to come back.

also, don't forget we got the 4* transfer from Villanova. He was the #11 PG out of HS and will have 3 years left. With Demetrius Henry(24) Sindarious Thornwell(4), Tyrone Johnson(11), plus Marcus Stroman(8) and probably LJ Peak(15) next year, we'll have 5 top 25 players at their position.

Who cares, they still won't contend for an SEC championship.

South Carolina is not a basketball school. Never will be. Football school first and foremost, and the fans have made it pretty clear that baseball is the preferred second sport. They might upset a team or two, but will not achieve consistent, sustained success. Now that I think about it, this is kind of the mindset of most of the SEC.
