It does not get the recognition it deserves.

Another movie that came out a few years ago that never seems to get much mention that I thought was great was "Old henry"
Not a mob flick but a good sorta western.

I kind of liked the Ballad of Lefty Brown

The only thing that still bothers me about it, apart from the plot being a little convoluted, is that it's hard for me to see Bill Pullman in a serious role. It's like I look at him and expect Gabby Hayes.

Sam Mendes and Thomas Newman are a great combo.

They're a big reason why Skyfall was so good.
Speaking of Bond, Road to Perdition was the first movie I saw Daniel Craig in. He was so good as an insufferable twat that it took me a while to warm up to him in other roles.

Here's an interesting factoid.

Thomas Newman scored the climax of Return of the Jedi.
And just as Alfred Newman gave John Williams some of his first big breaks, Williams, in turn, gave Thomas Newman one of his first plum assignments as a Hollywood musician.
"He threw me a bone. I mean, he would not put it that way. But he let me orchestrate a cue from Return of the Jedi, when Darth Vader dies," Newman says, then laughs: "It was an amazing thing to do."

Camera guy was one of my favorites: Conrad Hall

He was a legend, everyone he worked with affectionately called him Connie, he made some of the most iconic images ever.
"I mentioned the rain. This is a water-soaked picture, with melting snow on the streets and dampness in every room. That gives Conrad Hall the opportunity to develop and extend one of his most famous shots. In "In Cold Blood" (1967), he has a closeup of Robert Blake, as a convicted killer on the night of his death. He puts Blake near a window, and lights his face through the windowpane, as raindrops slide down the glass. The effect is of tears on his face. In "Road to Perdition," the light shines through a rain-swept window onto a whole room that seems to weep."

I agree whole heartedly with this. I remembered it being good, but just watched Perdition again a few months ago and it is very, very good. Borderline classic, and terribly unrated or underappreciated I think.
Tons of lines: "Everybody in this room is a killer, Michael." Tons of good scenes overall, and one of the best "Wipe Out" scenes on film
