Unfortunately, DJ has not become the QB we expected. But!

Nov 9, 2022, 5:29 PM

Something is up with our receivers. For two years now they struggle to get open. They run poor routes. Is that coaching? Did Jeff Scott have that much to do with the past success of our receivers? Or is the talent gap between our past and current receivers that vast? Something to ponder. What do you think?

The receivers are open repeatedly in the last few games. There is too much hesitation, and not enough pre-snap thought given to the development of a pass play by DJU certainly, and perhaps all the quarterbacks. If DJ hits even half of the open receivers, we win all of our games easily. A definite change needs to be made. what’s the definition of insanity again?

Receivers are open if you go to games in person all you have to do is lock onto the receivers. Getting open isn’t the problem, they just aren’t being seen. AW had at least 2 more TDs in the FSU game missed and many more throughout the season. Now what they don’t do is fight for the 50/50 balls they give up at the first sign of contact.

That is biggest thing that stands out to me.....

Years past those 50/50 balls were more like 60% or 70% in Tigers favor because the boys were fighting and scrapping for every ball. You can take deep shots knowing they are probably gonna come down with 1 out of 3, it will keep the drive going. But if they are not going to fight for the ball you can't waste a down on 50/50 shot.

It really stands out when seeing the other top teams. The boys on other teams are catching the ball. Tigers not so much as previous seasons.

Maybe a portion of it, but I hesitate to put the blame all on the receivers since Dabo used to be a WR coach.

DJ certainly hasn't turned out like we hoped for when we signed him.

You know what else? Neither has offensive coaching, or play calling.

There's nothing wrong with Clemson's receiver talent. The oldest and lamest excuse for losing is lack of "talent". Dabo won an ACC Championship with Tommy Bowden's players. Take a look at Clemson's WR roster recruiting rankings, our WR talent is top 2-3% nationally for all college's/universities.

Coaching, player development, and evaluations go hand-in-hand. If something's broken with our WR's that's your culprit.

sounds nice but....

did you see the youtube clips the other day that were posted? Various clips of wide open receivers that somehow ran open for naught. There's a bit more to all this. And the clips don't lie.

DJ has missed countless open receivers because he cannot get off of his first read quick enough. We have seen them on replays and coaches have talked about them. They are getting open, he is just not fast enough in processing information. It won’t change. And he is not nfl material anymore. Sad to see.

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

There’s a bad echo in here!

If DJ was throwing to the great receivers we have had in the past do you think he would be Heisman material??.??

IF Lawrence was the QB would the receivers we have now be making more catches???

I SUSPECT THAT WE WILL KNOW BY THE END OF THE FIRST QUARTER SATURDAY WHAT OUR CHANCES ARE IN THIS VERY BIG GAME.
