Tommy did everything right, except game day coaching. He hired great assistants, and if Rich Rod had stayed, he would have been much more successful. His best move was resigning so Dabo could take over as head coach! A good man and I never hear of him badmouthing Clemson.

Oh, come on man. That’s way out of line. Tommy’s still one of the good guys and still loves Clemson. Geez.

I have read in awhile. God is legit, and yes he works in ways us mere mortals do not always understand.

Great story! Dabo and Kathleen had no idea what was in store for their future when they went to church that day. Thanks to Tommy for hiring Dabo and our thoughts and prayers are with his father and family during this tough time.

As often I have said -- I give Bowden a lot of credit for what he accomplished here. He was about the worst ever gameday coach, but he did change the culture at Clemson. I don't mean as to the Christian part, but going after better talent.
At the end of the day he was a good man, and Clemson benefited from that.

We benefited a whole lot. The Bowden bowls gave us a ton of national media exposure.

With the likes of Tommy and Terry Don and Dabo himself, they see the forest through the trees. We owe so much to Tommy and Terry Don. And it’s not just because Dabo’s won a bunch of FB games. It’s all the intangibles that make Clemson great. It’s the foundation of being honest and surrounding yourself with great people that will be great examples and teachers for our student athletes, setting them up for outstanding futures. That foundation is made with a true guidance and following in God. If you keep your compass on that path, so many good things will follow.

Coach Tommy Bowden is a humble man and a wonderful

judge of talent & potential. I remember around 2010, I went & heard Coach Bowden speak at a FCA meeting in Knoxville, TN. His talk was excellent & afterwards anyone could go up to shake his hand and speak with him briefly. I went through the line & finally got up to him…I said, “Coach I am a ‘91 Clemson grad & I really appreciate all you did for Clemson University over your time there. Wish things would have worked out for a longer stay”. Coach Bowden looked me straight in the eyes and said, “I really enjoyed coaching at Clemson & got close but couldn’t get the program quite over the hump. I really believe this next guy, Coach Dabo Swinney, will take the program to the next level. He’s got what it takes. The program is in really good hands.” Coach Tommy Bowden is a wonderful man!!

Tommy Bowden is a class act. He won a lot of games at Clemson and owned the Gamecocks. He was the hottest head coach prospect in nation when we hired him after a great season with Tulane. Wonderful HC recommendation he made! Good Christian man. I find it interesting he never came close to coaching again after he was let go by Clemson.

I took my son to hear Coach Bowden when he came to Greenwood and spoke at a church here. I remember thinking that he looked way more comfortable standing in that pulpit than I'd seen him look on the sidelines.
Like DJ says, down here, Jesus is #1.
May it ever be so in my life.
