expectations through the roof, and no clear transotion plan yet. See FSU in Bowden's last days, and that was with a "coach in waiting". Should be fun to watch the meltdown.

IDK, FSU post bowden rifled off 3 acc and one natty... I dislike carpetbaggin' Jimbo but the transition was successful. If it wasn't for the town of Tally constantly bumping into his wayward wife, he might have been a solid #2 in the Atlantic this year...

He does say, "entire Clemson family". Pretty tough to mention everyone with something like this, especially since so many have been involved. Kind of like the Academy Awards. Gets old hearing the winners thank 75 people, organizations, etc.

IPTAY is Clemson!!

IPTAY serves no other entity outside of Clemson... there is no distinction between Clemson and IPTAY because Clemson is a state supported school that is limited in its direct funding of the athletics department... that's no slight to IPTAY and given the current situation with the asst bball coach, it's probably best for all involved to not have any mentions of the booster organization...
just saying...

At every milestone like this, I am reminded of the haters back when Bowden got fired. I heard many saying things like "Clemson should not have fired Bowden. The fans think they are an elite team, but Clemson just isn't elite." What do you say now?

Lol I remember when the chickens were clucking about they hope we keep Dabo forever. I just would respond at the time that “I hope so too”. I knew by then that Dabo was special and if anybody could get us over that hump to start our climb to the top of the mountain it was Dabo. A lot of people on here was calling for his head after the 5th loss to the chickens. I’m so glad Dan Radakovich didn’t listen to Tnet. Once Watson signed on after that 5th loss I knew Dabo had us trending up and Spurrier was running out of gas. Now 2 National championships later here we are aiming for that 3rd in 4 years!

My #1 question for Dabo would be, would you remain at Clemson and continue doing the job that you have done at Clemson without the raise and a lot less money.
I personally believe that a cap should have been placed on how much college coaches can be paid at the HC level long before it got up to 9 mil plus. The college HC price tag should have been capped at no more than a 2.5 mil a year range... I think that a open check book policy is wrong for college sports, along with competing salaries for the highest paid HC!!!

I understand the sentiment but he’s not just a football coach. It is impossible to put a value on what he has done for CU. A massive reason the place is blowing up with growth and excitement is Dabo Swinney. He deserves every penny IMO.

Well, I guess that our sports society have forgotten the value of money bc 9 plus Mil is more money than 90% of American's will see in two life times. Oh it's good to make and have that kind of money but, a heart surgeon that just saved a child, a brother, a sister, a father or a mother, they don't make that kind of money but, our society will easily accept a college FB HC being paid that kind of money. It just seems that as a society we have our priorities mix up bc, a saved life is worth more than bragging rights for a fan base of sports!!!

Not sure how that would work in a capitalist society. If they somehow put a cap in place, I promise you colleges would come up with very creative ways to increase their take home pay.
Also, 93 million is a shocking number but over 10 years it’s not close to what he brings to CU. I mean over the last month Dabo has Clemson getting over 8 million in free advertising.

In your opinion, how much is to much? The contracts that Dabo has already receive plus staff raises, it has already price out a lot of the fans that were buying season tickets and donating to IPTAY long before and right after Dabo become HC. The contract that Dabo signed when promoted to HC, the NC and champions were in his Orange Jacket speech when he accepted the head coaching job at Clemson.
The lower income fans that were loyal and in the stands when Clemson wasn't an elite power house FB team, I believe they deserves to be in those stands now, but can't bc they have been priced out, and to me that seems to be unfair to those fans that filled our stands before Clemson FB was all that. They are the ones that help keep our FB program alive waiting and dreaming of our program becoming what it is today. Now their season ticket seat are being sold to the one that wouldn't show their faces before we were elite!!!

Sorry this is so long but if you really want to know my opinion here it is. Basically my TLDR is Dabo is worth every cent and most likely underpaid.
I personally don’t think there is technically a “too much” in this case. Unless if that person is paid more than they are worth and it negatively effects the university and it’s ability to operate. In our society, right or wrong, your value is based upon what you can bring in and the results you drive.
I understand your sentiment that surgeons/teachers/EMT/Firefighters/police save lives and thus are underpaid for what they do. The fact is they are paid exactly what the market will bear and every market is different. This is because it’s much easier to become employed in one of those occupations versus becoming a college football coach much less an elite coach due the the size of the market. Supply and demand.
CFB coach is an incredibly small market, there are only 129 D1 jobs available and only a small number are making the money you deem too high. It also comes with a ton of risk, there is no real direct schooling to become a coach unlike the other professions where if you do the work, graduate, you will be paid a certain salary. Also if you get the job, a CFB coach has more risk as it’s a highly volatile market. You could easily be fired in a few years or less and unable to get another job due to poor performance. While in the other occupations, if you have a bad year or years, they will have a much greater chance at getting similar employment much quicker.
Results directly from Dabo’s leadership: 2013 athletic budget: 64 million 2018 athletic budget: 112.6 million 2013 Iptay: 14 million given 2018 Iptay: 36.5 million given 2018 Nike: 10yr/60million **This doesn’t include merchandising/ increased ticket sales and cost/ increased school applications and general perception of Clemson, which have no doubt skyrocketed under Dabo. With that success, tickets will price some people out unfortunately.
Forbes estimates that after winning a Championship, schools generally see an increase in the next three years of roughly 16% but some go as high as 40% for schools that may have not won recently. They didn’t have stats for multiple championships in short period of time.

Naah to the cap. Dabo is worth every penny to the University and to the football program. That little old Upstate school is now a national brand, and Dabo is the prime reason for it.

Dabo Swinney with a vision for Clemson and the young men that would come through and change Clemson forever for the better! Every Clemson fan has benefited in love for the program an each other for many years to come.
The foundation was in place from many years of tradition and sacrifice from Clemson fans but it took Dabo’s vision to honor God’s will to help bring it all together. Dabo always gives credit to our Awesome God for blessing him and Clemson and we should too. He’s why it’s so special in these hills.
Our gratitude and humility to our Heavenly Father will only increase the blessings on Clemson an our lives for years to come or until He comes.
Thank you ???? Lord and thank you for being faithful to Him Dabo.
