While you can get a practice round badge...

Apr 1, 2022, 8:20 AM

for just one day (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday), tournament badges work a little differently. One tournament badge permits access to Augusta National each of the four days of the tournament. In other words, if someone offers you a tournament badge for Thursday, that person is going to want it back so it can be used on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Years ago, there used to be a house on Berckmans Road on the right as you turned off Washington Road. The house belonged to a guy named Clyde Pelcher. Clyde would permit partons to park on his property and he would sell/rent practice round badges and tournament badges to them. He would keep the keys to your car until you returned the badge. I think Augusta National eventually bought the property and tore down the house to make room for additional parking.

Clyde sold practice round badges for $300 and he would rent tournament badges for $1,500 to $2,000 per day. Today, practice round badges sell for upwards of $500 while tournament badges are $2,500 and above.

Good luck

Not only did the ANGC buy all the houses (except one), they moved Berckmans Road so they could expand the golf course and its amenities. The club wanted to control all of the adjacent property for parking and also to be able to control the environment. I am sure they did not like residents on Berckmans Road with signs in their yards hawking parking.

That whole area...

looks very different today than it did ten years ago.

Thank goodness for that..............

Augusta is a dump and the national has done a great job of cleaning up washington road. I grew up in the area and the whole city has improved. Some people like to put down corporations and organizations for taking over areas but in this case they did a great job.

I completely agree...

For years, Augusta was often referred to as "Disgusta".

I would love to make it for the par 3 just once. Im not paying those crazy fees for a badge, that seems like robbery to me.

Apply for the Practice Round badge lottery...

Pretty simply process and you can select the day you want to attend although, limiting your choice to just one day minimizes your chances.

While I have a close friend who get me tournament badges every year, I still get practice round badges through the lottery once every few years.

You can actually get single day tournament badges

Apr 1, 2022, 12:55 PM [ in reply to While you can get a practice round badge... ]

through the lottery...otherwise the tournament badges are for all 4 days. We received Monday practice round tickets this year. Seems we get some every 4 or 5 years. Family has tickets, so fortunately get to go every year...other than the last 2 Covid years.
