take the NCAA to federal court for restraint of trade under the NCAA vs Alston decision.

That's how the NCAA loses even more control by grasping at straws trying to maintain it.

Some restraint of trade is good.
For example, only allowing licensed electricians to wire your high-rise office building.
It shouldn't be the Wild West.

The whole system needs to be revamped with enforceable guidelines, but I suspect that the NCAA is going to run into trouble legally if a school presses them on these issues. The NCAA does not have many friends in state legislatures, state courts and federal courts. Alston was a SCREAMING 9-0 unanimous decision. At the end of the day, the NCAA does not have subpoena power and lawyered up schools/collectives/boosters can tell them to pound sand.
