TE says Feaster still needs to work on his pass protection.

Mar 30, 2017, 3:51 PM

I hope he gets this down soon. That's about the only thing that could keep him off the field.

I still think that the starting RB is Fuller's to lose, even though Feaster is going to be awesome at times.

I'm thinking Feaster will get more opportunities on KO's this year. He was a little timid doing that previously, so maybe he's fixed that.

Wasn't Spiller not great at pass protection?

It kept him off the field in Buffalo***

It's possible but I don't remember that being an issue. I do

Mar 30, 2017, 4:09 PM [ in reply to Re: TE says Feaster still needs to work on his pass protection. ]

remember TB complaining that he wouldn't run between the tackles and always danced to the outside.

Gallman was a Linebacker in HIgh school as well

Mar 30, 2017, 4:24 PM

so he wasn't afraid of contact. Which in my opinion was a huge reason he was able to secure the RB job in his first year that he played. He solidified the spot because he could block and enjoyed contact. If ya'll remember in his first season we had like 5 running backs all vying for the spot. Ended up working out pretty stinking good.

In my opinion, if you're over 210lbs, on a full-ride, and afraid of contact... football isn't the sport for you.

Nothing drives me crazier than 260lb tight ends that "aren't good blockers" and running backs that "aren't good at pass protection". If you aren't running the ball, you better protect your quarterback. You learn that in pee-wee football.

A lot of it is technique. You might try hard to hit but end up picking your jock every now and then - some more than others. Takes work, practice, and study to be able to anticipate a defender's moves. It's not all about strength and speed but also about knowing how to use them.

You sound like a RB that isn't good at pass protection or a 260lb TE that doesn't know how to block. ;)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

thats true.. you could tell Spiller didn't like contact.

Mar 31, 2017, 9:56 AM [ in reply to Re: Gallman was a Linebacker in HIgh school as well ]

but he was so good you couldn't keep him off the field. Because any play he could go the distance.

Gallman was not always a good pass-blocker. Re-watch the 2014 OU/CLEMSON game and watch him whiff several times. It was not pretty. He improved greatly the next season and has been awesome since then.

Actually, Choice was ahead of Gallman and it wasn't until Choice blew his knee out at BC that Gallman emerged.

He's the home run threat at running back. He needs to see the field often.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Watch 4th down play vs. LSU, Ellington's block was crucial.

Mar 30, 2017, 6:13 PM

Might have been the win that started it all.

The other thing that's keeping him off the field is that you can arm-tackle him just way too easily and he neither sees holes nor follows blocks well.

He's got wild athletic ability, but his vision and toughness need some serious work. Right now as it stands Fuller will start...and the door is wide open for Etienne to come in and win PT.

The light is not on for Feaster right now. Which is concerning. Fuller is OK but he is a downgrade on Gallman.

I've been wondering about Entienne.

Mar 30, 2017, 7:38 PM

I've not heard anyone even mention hit when talking about the rotation next year.

^^Been wondering the same thing. I was guessing that he's not on campus yet, so maybe we will hear about him in the fall.

Some players do not adjust to the speed of the game as fast as others. Maybe he is one, but you can bet until he becomes the complete package he will be a situational player. Blocking a 260 DE takes guts and a lot of them. Everybody ain't cut from the same cloth. When it comes time to kick the football Dabo and company will have the players on the field that have earned the right to be there!!!!

He doesn't come to Clemson until fall. He will have a lot of work to do to see any significant playing time next year. I hope he catches on quick because he looks like a stud.
