Lmao....now Vandy is "all in"

Dabo would have been rich if he would have trade marked the phrase. So far since we started the slogan
Auburn, Vandy, Adidas, and many more teams and companies have ripped it off

big-time college football coach that I know of to use it in such a way. He simply took what was at the time a phrase made popular by all of the Texas hold'em poker tv shows, and applied it to his football program.
Am I wrong, or did some other coach beat him to it?

Dabo can't trademark something he didn't create that was

already a common saying and in the public lexicon. All In has been around forever and was popularized when poker started being on TV. You folks act like Dabo coined the phrase.

The difference between Dabo's "All In" and everyone else
Aug 5, 2012, 7:08 PM
|
|
is that they are LOOKING for something to unify their team, just like our "One Team, One Dream", "Passionate About Winning", etc. Dabo's "All In" was something that just happened. He never said he came up with it, he actually used it in a poker related way saying basically, this is my only shot, I've got nothing to lose, I'm going all in, are you guys with me? It just took off from there. It's a lot like other traditions, they just happen.

Of course, that's all it was. He used a common phrase
Aug 5, 2012, 7:23 PM
|
|
that had recently become more popular, and applied it to his football program. It subsequently got a lot of headlines, and even though he didn't invent it and never claimed such, it became associated with Dabo and his program. Since then, it is understandably hard to hear that without associating it with Dabo, particularly when used in the context of football.
