Tajh vs. Manziel, Bridgewater etc- Complete Breakdown

Jul 29, 2013, 5:50 PM

Is Tajh the best QB in the land? Well, one certainly could make that arguement. Should he knock off the two scheduled $eC teams then I presume it would almost solidify the statement. However, I do understand those who will say that McCarron is a winner. I get that. I counter that with, would Bama be a better team with Tajh. Plenty of debate there. Lets have a look at last seasons stats for a quick comparison, starting with passing:

Boyd Clemson JR 287-427 67.2Pct 3896 36 TD 13Int 165.6
Bridgewater Louisville SO 287-419 68.5 3718 27 8 160.5
Manziel Texas A&M rsFR 295-434 68.0 3706 26 9 155.3
McCarron Alabama JR 211-314 67.2 2933 30 3 175.3
Mariota Oregon FR 230-336 68.5 2677 32 6 163.2

Now, how about some rushing stats;
Boyd JR QB 186Att 514Yds 10TDs
Bridgewater SO QB 74 26 1
Manziel rsFR QB 201 1410 21
McCarron JR QB 49 4 1
Mariota FR QB 106 752 5

Well folks, there you have it. So who do you got? Feel free to draw any conclusion you wish or none at all. I do understand those who say, ''The game evolves every season just as every team does.'' I get that. I know McCarron is a ''winner'' but I wouldn't trade Tajh for him. I genuinely wouldn't and say what you will. I like our dual threat QB just the way he is. I like that I can go to sleep and not have to worry about waking up to news of him being wasted at some club. I like that you'll never see him getting kicked out of a Manning football camp. Tajh is a winner and I'll stand behind him all the way. Thats my opinion. But I do feel there are some things which could be taken into consideration;

It wouldn't be a stretch to say that McCarron and Manziel played for two of the best offensive lines in CFB.

Bridgewater played against a lower level of competition. Period. .

Mariota, Manziel, and Boyd play for misdirection offenses.

Who had the best WR's? Thats a huge debate. I stand quite myopic on this one so I'm staying out of it.

It could be stated that the play action pass benefited Bama greater than any other team; given they have an effective power running game.

So who ya got folks?

First of all, I love tajh as much as any of these guys, he did somethings as a sophomore that made me scratch my head, but I know nobody is perfect.
As far as best overall I think Johnny Football has it. Dude is a freak.
Best pure passer, I gotta go with teddy. He really is impressive.
Toughest player goes to tajh. Watch Chik fli a bowl and see.

The only one for on the field performance that I would take over tajh is Johnny Football.

playing pretend GM, I'm drafting Teddy as of today

Jul 29, 2013, 6:24 PM

But Tajh may be the best college QB around

Ok, if we are talking pro potential my list goes as follows:
Teddy
Johnny
Tajh
Tie between AJ and MM

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would not take Manziel over Tajh

Jul 29, 2013, 7:02 PM

the kid is to much of a liability and is selfish, Manziel has the same skill set as Tebow and how well has that worked in the NFL.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Manziel doesn't have the accuracy or arm strength to play...

Jul 29, 2013, 7:39 PM

in the NFL. Not to mention how small he is. Michael Vick at 210 pounds has taken a beating his whole career. Manziel is definitely not the height or weight he is listed. I would say he is about 5'10", and 185-195 pounds.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Manziel has a very good arm

Jul 29, 2013, 11:57 PM

Don't know where you get he doesn't. As they said on the radio today, only under 6' QB that rivals his arm strength is Russel wilson

Dude you really need to learn how to judge talent if you think Tebow and Manziel have same talent.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

AJ McCarron wouldn't start on about 85% of FBS schools….

Jul 29, 2013, 7:41 PM [ in reply to Re: playing pretend GM, I'm drafting Teddy as of today ]

With a dominate defense, great wr's, great rb's, and a dominate offensive line, he can't even throw for 3000 yards.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree 100% with that***

Jul 29, 2013, 11:58 PM

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Difference is...He doesn't have to. They chew clock and run

Jul 30, 2013, 9:19 AM [ in reply to AJ McCarron wouldn't start on about 85% of FBS schools…. ]

the ball. Just a little stat to throw out there.

Yards per attempt:

Tajh - 9.12
AJ - 9.34

Re: Tajh vs. Manziel, Bridgewater etc- Complete Breakdown

Jul 29, 2013, 7:13 PM

I would take Tajh for our team any day. but Im a realist. AJ is the better QB stat wise. He played 8 SEC defenses last year just like Manziel. Tajh put up great Numbers but truley struggled in two of 3 SEC games 1 vs worst SEC. If it wasnt for SCAR honestly LSU would of been tougher to beat. Wow didnt I just compliment SCAR???NAH but Tajh is the toughest out of all of them but is he is the best QB in Nation Maybe! We will see this year, But based on last year no. But sky is the limit this year for our tigers. we know what it takes to be dominate now.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

But of the three of them Tajh might have had the weakest OL

Jul 29, 2013, 7:18 PM

Now I'm not saying out OL was bad last year but it was young and definitly struggled at times. Johnny FB had two elite OTs on either side of him that kept him nice and clean and AJ was behind arguably the best OL in teh country. IF you swtich the teams I know for a fact that Johnny FB and AJ wouldn't have survived the onslaught of hits Tajh had to take and get up from.

Like you said he's easily the toughest of the bunch and I think his talent is right there with each adn every one of them, thus I think all around he's better.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

AJ played behind one the best OL ever

Jul 29, 2013, 11:59 PM [ in reply to Re: Tajh vs. Manziel, Bridgewater etc- Complete Breakdown ]

He is just a guy on any other team

Jul 29, 2013, 8:41 PM

You left out the rankings of the defenses they played.

Tajh is a really really good QB and Clemson is lucky to have him. But Manziel is a freak and Bridgewater will be the #1 QB taken in the draft next year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you think Teddy played against decent D's? LMAO***

I've watched Bridgewater limp around with a hurt ankle for games last year and still put up nice numbers. Don't question his toughness.

Like em all but TAJH really best overall on & off the field

Only one of them plays for Clemson.
