Stupid idea!

That is a stipid idea. Why do you want a rematch of FSU Clemson every year. You played that game during the season. Just like bowls don't want a Clemson/Scar rematch. Don't change the format. Realign the divisions.

Have played for championship - "If the NCAA lifted its title-game requirements, Swofford said the ACC would consider having the top two teams in the league play for the ACC championship, in addition to maintaining divisions, but not requiring teams to play every opponent in their division."

Dumb Idea

Leave things alone. Every conference has one division stronger than the other. Then it will change. So if you break up division in two years you may have to change again. No one wants to see a rematch if 1 and 2 play in reg season.

What everyone is forgetting is that these ACC divisions
Jan 10, 2014, 9:48 PM
|

were set up this way for one reason and one reason only: | Basketball.
unc and Duke wanted to remain in the same divisions to preserve their basketball rivalry. Sheer numbers forced Swofford's "committee" to choose between NCSt. and Wake and since NCSt had a better football tradition, they got stuck in the same division with FloridaSt and Clemson....No, unc got exactly what they wanted initially and since they're NEVER a factor in football, the divisions were initially set up the way the wanted to preserve their basketball tradition.
To keep up with the rest of the major conferences (read:money), Swofford was forced further expand the ACC even accepting Notre Dame in everything but football.
The hilarious thing is that Syracuse, Notre Dame, Duke and soon Louisville are all arguably better than unc in basketball. And now, hopefully as soon as Swoffie gets his light blue ### out of Greensboro, unc will no longer be able to dictate to the rest of the conference members.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the ACC does not have divisions in basketball.

For example

This year Clemson lost to FSU and lost the division. So Clemson would get another shot at FSU in Acc championship game. That would be BS. Teams should not get rewarded for not winning the division.

it be viewing worthy??? better than scrubs playing the cream & makes the conference look stronger in national perception.
yet it's a better idea when a no-loss team plays a 3,4, or 5 loss team from the other division to represent our 2 best teams...yeah, brilliant. it makes a mockery of the conference & competition, knowing the best teams aren't playing! look how upset folks get when they feel the top 2 teams aren't playing for the NC game...exactly the point.

AU beat Bama to play in it. FSU beat CU...but it was in the regular season & not at the end, but they sealed the division with that win alone...no other competition at all. Duke did deserve a shot after what they accomplished & i'm not taking away from them. moving forward i think it should be tweaked some to get the best 2 teams in the conference championship period. i don't think there's much question that the divisions are pretty out of balance & have been moving that way for a few seasons. i'm all for tradition, but sometimes a little change-up has to happen to even things out. if the conference wants to compete nationally, it's paramount that we put our best feet forward.

### when it comes selection time for the playoffs. If the SEC follows suit on this they're more apt to put two teams in the playoff and cause a one loss ACC champion left out.
Leave it alone, if you can't win out in the ACC you don't belong in the playoff.
