Stuck in rural Arkansas this week...

Sep 1, 2015, 1:03 PM

and I am getting a full dose of SEC West nonsense. Finebaum and Marcus Spears said they could not pick any team in the West to finish last in the division. At times, they seemed cognizant that one has to finish last or at least tied for last, but they are so convinced that they are all sooooo goooood, it makes the prediction impossible.

Tammy came on and blathered that Alabama was too worn out from the grueling SEC schedule to properly beat Ohio State in last year's CFB. Nevermind, that the saying goes "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger".

I will grant them that there is a lot of parity in the division, and it is difficult to predict, but the idea that they are too good for their own good is self-serving SEC BS. None of them have all the pieces to win. And they are creating a narrative for why they will always be the best despite losing championships

Crazy stuff.

They may have some SEC nonsense, but head out to a bar during some games and you will find them to be some of the best fans around. Good people.

Best fans in $EC hands down.....

Only $EC team I will ever pull for too. Funny how they are viewed by other $EC teams as slight outsiders in a way. They know that too, and it gives them an independent streak. I hope they wreck shop in that ######## conference.

I spent a few years there too

Worked in Fayetteville and agree not that bad a group. Of course that was long ago when Danny was their coach so it made it a easier to pull for them.

How can you not pull for them?

I agree that the ones I've met through the years have been pretty good folk.

Finebaum has kinda of struck me as being resigned to

the fact that the SEC West just has a lot of parity and no truly great teams this year. From listening to him a few times my impression is that he thinks a lot of teams are going to be jumbled up and its going to be difficult for any of them to go better than 6-2.

Honestly i would pick Miss St to finish last in that division right now, and what other division in college football would have a cellar dweller of that quality? I don't see any truly great teams there (not even Bama this year), but there are a lot of good to very good teams.
