It’s Brownell
Sorry, but Clemson basketball is terrible compared to the resources available.

No, football is terrible recently relative to the resources available.

Bwa ha ha!
Brown L is the 38th highest paid coach, averages the 44th recruiting class over five years, yet delivers a 76th average year-end finish.
JK trolls football as she demands we beat every team that we outrecruit and anything less than that is a failure, yet totally blinds eye her beau's consistent failures leading basketball.
Sad.

If I could personally change any coach in any sport. It'll be Grisham at WR coach. I know Brownell is the obvious choice here but I care more for our football programs success than I do for a basketball program that's had almost no success.

Hot take, but I'm firing Dabo.
People talk about him making Clemson good, which is true (though I don't know how much of it was him and how much of it was Watson/Lawrence, Venables, and Kelly/Scott). But college football is a different world now. It's obvious to anyone with a brain. His Gomer Pyle act isn't going to work, nor is bragging about "culture" in the days where players can make millions at other schools. Success changes people, and I don't think he's the same person he was 7 years ago. He's shown he values "his people" and surrounding himself with an echo chamber of yes-men, rather than putting the interests of Clemson first. I think the entire Clemson program needs an overhaul, just with the resources we've put into place. And I don't think we'll get rid of hiring terrible inside hires without cutting the head off the snake.

We can’t fire Dabo. That buyout would cripple us for so long. We wouldn’t be able to replace him with an elite coach.

What coach would even want to come here if they knew 10+ win seasons and competing for conference championships gets you fired? Firing Dabo is in no way the answer. Holding his feet to the fire and forcing him to conduct an actual interview process for OC and DC to find the actual best person for the job though? That should absolutely be on the table.

Dabo shouldn’t be fired. That’s crazy talk.

But he does need to somehow get the fire back he had a decade ago. He needs to remember that our success was about innovation, good coaching, and elite talent just as much as it was about “Clemson culture.”
Right now, we have Clemson culture and elite talent, but now we lack the innovation and good coaching.
Talking about how much we love each other and having a slide and a nap room in our facilities might help get great players, but it doesn’t help us have the coaching necessary to win meaningful games.

That's definitely a hot take. Dabo being fired would destroy the entire program for years, if not decades. He just needs to take a step back and reevaluate his drive and what his actual goals are for this program long term.
